    Abstract: A device for the illumination of the instrument dials of two or more indicator instruments which are accommodated in one common housing, particularly of the indicator field of a combination instrument for motor vehicles. A single rod-like light transmitting element extends over a substantial part of the length of the housing and is illuminated on at least one end by a light source. A reflection surface is provided on a side of the light transmitting element facing away from the indicator field.

    Abstract: A device for variably illuminating an object, such as an indicator on the instrument panel of a motor vehicle, includes a light source, a light conducting assembly for transmitting light to the object to be illuminated and a movable light control member disposed between the light source and an end of the light conducting assembly and constructed of a light conductive material, the movable member having a light transmitting surface of varying dimensions along the direction of movement of the member such that movement of the member relative to the end of the light conducting assembly varies the amount of light supplied thereto.
