  • Patent number: 5642695
Abstract: A heating module for a mixture-compressing combustion engine which is arranged between an induction pipe and a cylinder head of the combustion engine. The induction pipe, the heating module and the cylinder head delimit at least one intake port in which at least one electrically heatable heating element is arranged which constitutes a component of the heating module. The heating module is connectable with connecting terminals to an electric current source and the joining surfaces between the induction pipe, the heating module and the cylinder head are sealed by a sealing device. The heating module includes at least one thin plate made of metallic material. A conductor made of electrically conductive material is secured on the plate. The sealing devices are constructed in one piece with the heating module on the side facing the induction pipe and the side facing the cylinder head.

  • Patent number: 5624099
Abstract: An elastic mounting apparatus for vibration-decoupled mounting of a turbocharger housing on an internal combustion engine. The mounting apparatus includes a clamping element with two spring elements arranged in a functionally serial relationship. The clamping element joins the housing and the internal combustion engine so as to allow relative vibration between the two. The first spring element includes an annular spring member made of elastomeric material and a second spring element formed by at least one disk spring. The clamping element is penetrated by a clamping screw, and the disk spring can be compressed by the clamping screw in such a way that its spring rate, after compression to the intended preload, is substantially zero. The housing is configured as a turbocharger housing with at least one intake pipe. The intake pipe is braced in a vibration-decoupled and sealing manner on the cylinder head of the internal combustion engine by a sealing element made of an elastomeric material.

  • Patent number: 5536289
Abstract: A liquid separator for the separation of liquids from gases is disclosed. The separator has an inlet orifice for receiving a flow of the gas laden with liquid, a first outlet for the liquid and a second outlet for the gas liberated from the liquid, and an adjusting mechanism for varying the available cross-sectional area arranged in the inlet orifice. The inlet orifice has a tubular passage cross-section and is bounded along its entire length by a dimensionally fixed wall. The adjusting mechanism has a pressure control assembly having a pneumatically operable control element which is arranged within the inlet orifice in a manner allowing relative movement therewith.

  • Patent number: 5529026
Abstract: A regulating valve, comprising a housing having a cylindrical valve chamber, is disclosed. The valve chamber is provided with at least one inflow and at least two outflow ports. The inflow and the outflow ports can be at least partly closed off as required by a single common valve body arranged in the valve chamber that can rotate about an axis. The valve body acts as a rotary valve and can be actuated by a drive. The inflow and/or at least one of the outflow ports is surrounded on the side of the housing facing the valve body by a seal. The seal can be brought into sealing engagement with the valve body under an elastic preload. The valve body has an extension in the peripheral direction of the valve chamber that is delimited in each case by an edge, such that the flowoff edge passing over the inflow port while it is opening has an axially extending elliptical indentation.

  • Patent number: 4886281
Abstract: A sealing ring for sealing about a relatively-movable shaft has a sealing surface and resilient means for resiliently bearing the sealing surface on the shaft. At least one annular projection projects from the sealing surface for contacting the shaft. The annular projection is made recessional into the sealing surface, by making at least the portion of the sealing ring at the sealing surface of a rubber having a Shore A hardness of from about 65 to about 90, in such a way as to leave a portion of the sealing surface in contact with the shaft at an annular surface region spaced axially from the annular projection.
