  • Patent number: 6292998
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for performing mechanical operations on a workpiece secured on a first member for movement relative to a second member in at least one of three orthogonal directions at a precision in the &mgr;m range. Selectively energizable magnets are provided between the first and second members cause the first member to assume a floating state relative to the second member and to provide such movement. The second member is provided with a chamber for receiving the first member and is with openings for the controlled flow of pressurized fluid to augment the action of the magnets.

  • Patent number: 6012208
Abstract: The invention relates to a novel machine tool system provided with selectively energizable magnets for selectively moving a support for a work piece clamping plate into a floating condition and for changing the disposition of the clamping plate relative to operating tools. The floating condition permits movement of the clamping plate substantially without frictional engagement between the clamping plate support and structure such as a machine bed on which the support is movably mounted.

  • Patent number: 5872557
Abstract: A portable electronic device for orientation and communication comprises a casing (2) which includes a portable computer (8) with an integrated operating surface (10), communication means comprising electronic assemblies for wireless communication with identical or similar devices, and a docking station (6) for electrically connecting the computer to the communication means and the electronic assemblies and for mechanical retention. The computer (8) and the electronic assemblies are housed in the casing to be protected against outside influences and the computer is designed to be removable from the casing for operation independently of the device.

  • Patent number: 5781437
Abstract: A system for controlling vehicles in which stored information, information obtained from the surroundings, and information relating to the condition of components such as the position of the observation device on the vehicle are provided and communication means, means for initiating functions, and a digital command computer including a processor (21) and a main memory (22) are provided, said system being characterized in that the command computer comprises a graphics processor (23), video electronics (24), a bulk storage interface (25) with a bulk storage (26), and an interactive video screen (30) through which all of the sensed, stored outputted information in the form of digital data relating to the control, the condition and the operational situation of the vehicle is visualized.

  • Patent number: 5079960
Abstract: A test support including an undercarriage and an opening formed therein which is dimensioned for a turret or the like comprises a combat space container interchangeably accommodated in said opening. The combat space container comprises a cage which is detachably joined to said undercarriage, and a roof which is detachably joined to the cage. The cage carries largely invariant components and/or equipment, while the roof carries components and/or equipment which is to be varied more frequently.

  • Patent number: 4063815
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus and method for optical tracking and aiming from a movable system, such as a vehicle. The apparatus may comprise a viewing device having a sighting mark moveable responsive to the position of an aiming mechanism control. The sighting mark may be superimposed on a field of vision observable in the viewing device, by stroboscopic illumination.
