  • Patent number: 5729211
Abstract: An assembly for transferring data comprises a measurement data acquisition unit in the form of a portable measuring device, a measurement data processing unit, and an auxiliary unit for transferring data between the acquisition unit and the processing unit. Contact-less coupling elements are operatively associated with the acquisition and auxiliary units respectively for transferring measurement data between the acquisition unit and the auxiliary unit by contact-less coupling. Data are transferred between the auxiliary unit and the processing unit. The auxiliary unit includes a connecting member for mechanically detachably connecting the auxiliary unit with the acquisition unit such that the contact-less coupling elements face one another at a predetermined spacing and such that the connected acquisition and auxiliary units together form a portable measuring device.

  • Patent number: 5166599
Abstract: In multimeters having a plurality of input connections there is a danger of the measuring conductors being incorrectly connected in such a manner that the setting of the measurement range switch does not correspond to the input connections to which contact is made. In order to avoid damage which may be caused by making an incorrect contact to the input connections, an electrically and/or mechanically acting disabling device is coupled to the measurement range switch for permitting a disabling of particular input connections. The disabling is carried out in such a manner that contact can always only be made to that input connection for receiving a test signal through the measuring conductors, to which a measurable variable is assigned that corresponds to the measurable variable set with the measurement range switch.

  • Patent number: 4860901
Abstract: A housing for a portable measuring instrument includes inherently stable supporting housing parts formed of hard plastic, the supporting housing parts including a front and a back with relatively long right and left sides, relatively short sides and two opposite outer edges, an operating surface on the front, a display on the front, and operating elements on the front; and a flexible, frame-like shock protector in the form of two side parts formed of soft plastic integrated in the housing, the side parts protruding beyond all of the sides of the supporting housing parts and extending at the right and left sides between the front and back, the side parts being permanently secured to the housing parts, and beads each being disposed at a respective one of the outer edges of the front, for protecting the front including the display and the operating elements, the beads protruding along the long sides beyond the front defining a recessed grip along with the operating surface, for accommodating the thumb of an oper

  • Patent number: 4696189
Abstract: A measuring device housing includes two mutually assembled housing shells having mutually engaged dust protection edges, a trowel shape with a relatively narrow handle-type holder part changing into a relatively wide plate-type indicator part, an operating surface having sides, a switching wheel operating element mounted on the operating surface and extending beyond one of the sides thereof, and another operating element disposed on the operating surface laterally of the switching wheel, the operating elements being disposed within the swinging range of a thumb of the right hand of an operator of the measuring device gripping the holder part from behind for actuating the operating elements.

  • Patent number: 4476721
Abstract: Multi-purpose measuring device with a tilting display which includes a display assembly with a housing for visually indicating a measured value of a variable to be analyzed, an auxiliary assembly with another housing separate from the display assembly housing for performing measurements, a hinge interconnecting the housings permitting relative tilting of the housings in two directions into different planes at an angle relative to each other and into a common plane, and a carrying strap fastened in vicinity of the hinge, the auxiliary assembly having dimensions and weight in proportion to the display assembly causing the center of gravity of the measuring device to lie in vicinity of the auxiliary assembly and causing the auxiliary assembly to hang downward from the carrying strap with the display assembly disposed above the auxiliary assembly.
