  • Publication number: 20060266434
Abstract: Prior to the thermal coating of a component generally a pretreatment of the surface to be coated is necessary, for example, a roughening by means of sand or water blasting. The problem with this type of pretreatment or coating is over-spraying, which also modifies the surfaces, which are not intended to be coated. As remedy for this, masks have been proposed which are placed in front of the internal surface prior to the pretreatment. The task of the present invention is comprised of providing an alternative to the conventional mask and partial coating processes. The task is solved in that the mask is not produced independent from the component, but rather together therewith. This occurs in the manner, that the component is produced with a local over dimensioning, which at least partially masks the areas to be not pretreated and/or not to be coated, however, allows access to the internal surface to be pretreated and/or thermally coated.

  • Publication number: 20060045735
Abstract: A device includes a rotor and a stator enclosing the rotor. The stator includes a deep-drawn workpiece and having a thermally sprayed abradable coating film deposited on the deep-drawn workpiece. A minimal gap is disposed between the rotor and the stator. In addition, a method for manufacturing the device includes the steps of forming a workpiece by deep-drawing into one of the stator and an insert of the stator, depositing an abradable coating film on the stator using a thermal spray coating method, and ablating the abradable coating film using the rotor so as to form the minimal gap.

  • Publication number: 20040019123
Abstract: A polymer encapsulated solid-liquid or a solid-solid phase change material for use in a fluid coolant heat exchange system is disclosed. The resulting coolant has a higher heat transfer rate than a conventional fluid due to the utilization of the heat of fusion of the material. Thus provided, the improved coolant will allow down sizing of the coolant pump and subsequent reduction of parasitic loading. Engine heat up time can be increased due to the lower coolant flow rate and heat transfer capability at below operating range temperatures.

To produce a coating film, the coating layer is partially cured so as to be free from tack and in this state is stored until it is applied to a substrate. The coating layer can be attached at least indirectly to a smooth support base in-conjunction with an adhesive layer. The coating layer and/or the coating film can be detached from a roller in applying the coating film to a substrate.
