  • Patent number: 4522235
Abstract: A hose structure resistant to pressure and vacuum as well as kinking or collapsing which exhibits good recovery from crushing includes in its wall structure elastomer embedded reinforcing cords extending in opposite hand helical patterns about the hose axis and a filler layer of elastomeric material having a thickness from about one fifth to about one fifteenth of the mean radius of the filler layer from the hose axis. The filler layer elastomeric material is of high tensile modulus and hardness and preferably includes short length fibers dispersed throughout oriented predominantly generally in the circumferential direction of the hose.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 4, 1983
Date of Patent: June 11, 1985
Assignee: The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company
Inventors: Karl K. Kluss, Terry F. Allen, John M. Sawyer
  • Patent number: 4474217
Abstract: Hose structure suitable for transport of highly abrasive media including at least two concentric tube layers of elastomeric material. The radially innermost tube layer material is of greater abrasion resistance than a tube layer radially outwardly thereof. A radially outer tube layer material is of greater resilience than that of the radially innermost tube layer. The tube layers may be made visually distinguishable, for example, by being of different colors, so as to serve as a wear indicator.

Inventors: Ernest W. DeMarse, Karl K. Kluss, John M. Sawyer, Terry F. Allen
  • Patent number: 4234019
Abstract: An improved hose having a reinforced elastomeric structure built over rigid steel bead rings at the terminal end comprises a plurality of lugs attached to the bead ring at spaced locations around the ring on a tapered outward facing surface of the ring such that loading on the flanged end of the hose may be transferred directly to the bead.
