  • Publication number: 20230401274
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for computational textual search to find and display search identified information in documents. Search queries are processed over one or more documents either at a server or user device using match schemes that produce both binary (match or no match) and non-binary (i.e. multiple matching values) results and have relative fuzziness relationships. A fuzzier match scheme implies more results and fewer false negatives and a less fuzzy match scheme implies fewer results and fewer false positives. This fuzziness relationship allows, without changing a search string, for users to quickly change from a match scheme to a fuzzier or less fuzzy match scheme depending on user evaluation of results as containing too many false negatives or too many false positives—without becoming a programmer of complex search string metadata or an expert user of advanced search capabilities.

  • Patent number: 11775607
Abstract: A computer-implemented system for engaging automatic attention capture functionality of human neuronal structures by added transitory salient stimuli that draw user attention to parts of displayed documents, which stimulates involuntary neuronal interference with other image processing at no more than user-tolerable levels. After user initiated finding or displaying of document parts, when added visual salience is transitory and as presented, added motions are at the speeds presented, and when otherwise used in contexts presented in the disclosure, even extremely salient motion stimuli that involuntarily engage neuronal motion detection circuitry and thereby involuntarily capture attention in unique ways nevertheless stimulate interference with other visual processing at no more than user tolerable levels. Non-motion transitory visually salient ways of engaging automatic attention capture are also used in some circumstances.

  • Patent number: 11698937
Abstract: Content-specific URLs (CSURLs) are efficiently created to identify documents and intended visible content (Intended Content) within the documents that may be the whole of or only parts of the documents. The Intended Content of CSURLs can be affected, e.g. in the live web, by linkrot or content modification. Activation of CSURLs in conventional user agents (e.g. web browsers) results in automatic opening of underlying documents and/or offers to upgrade to a more capable user agent. Activation of CSURLs in a capable user agent result in automatic finding and distinguishing, e.g. by highlighting and scrolling, of matching content, which is robust in many circumstances wherein Intended Content has been non-trivially altered.

  • Patent number: 11321401
Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method for navigation on a communication network to robustly locate, retrieve and display information. In response to a few user inputs, a hyperlink is created that provides efficient and robust access to original resources and also to alternative resources for originally intended content. Intended content may comprise the whole of or only parts of document resources, which may be affected by linkrot or content modification. Such created links and hyperlinks can be checked to determine if they cannot be followed or if they can be followed but originally intended content is missing or altered. Then intended content can be accessed from alternative resources including archival resources and non-archival live resources.

  • Patent number: 10430474
Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method for search and navigation on a network to find and display specific search identified information in documents. Queries are sent to search engine services and responses comprising snippets are returned. Then, in response to only one or a few user inputs, documents are opened and locations of content matching or best matching the snippets are found reliably and distinguished in a display.

  • Patent number: 10198513
Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method for navigation on a communication network to robustly locate, retrieve and display information. In response to one or a few user inputs, a hyperlink in a referring document provides efficient and robust access to original resources and also to alternative resources for originally intended content. Intended content may comprise the whole of or only parts of document resources, which may be affected by linkrot or content modification. Links are checked to determine if they cannot be followed or if they can be followed but originally intended content is missing or altered. Then, in response to zero or a few additional user inputs, intended content is accessed from alternative resources including archival resources and non-archival live resources.
