    Abstract: In a process and apparatus for converting a sound wave into digital electrical signals, the sound wave is simultaneously detected by two electro-acoustic transducers spaced from each other in the direction of incidence of the sound. The transducers produce electrical signals which are compared, thereby forming a DPCM-signal in the form of a 1-bit signal.
