  • Patent number: 7213668
Abstract: A vehicle, such as a snowmobile, includes an engine with one or more air intakes for receiving air into the engine and an airbox for directing air into the air intakes. The airbox slides to facilitate installation and removal of the airbox from the engine compartment, which thus economizes time and cost both for vehicle assembly and maintenance. The sliding airbox also eliminates the need for a gap between the fuel tank and the airbox, allowing the fuel tank to be moved forward, thus improving mass centralization of the vehicle. The sliding airbox has a rectangular slot which slides onto a rectangular plate on an intake adapter. The intake adapter has a flexible tubular connection for each cylinder of the engine which are secured to each air intake with a hose clamp. The air intake usually includes an air metering device such as a carburetor or throttle body.

  • Publication number: 20070090691
Abstract: A motor vehicle has an inclinometer to determine the steepness of the slope upon which the vehicle stands, brakes and a driver brake pedal for generating a braking effort in the brakes. The brakes are also controlled by a brake hydraulic control unit and an electronic control unit. The brake hydraulic control unit is arranged to control the release of the braking effort generated to stop the vehicle on a slope by the brake pedal at a release rate which varies as a function of the steepness of the slope determined by the inclinometer following operation of the brake pedal to release the brakes. The vehicle thus achieves controlled descent of a hill after a stationary position. Such a brake control system is particularly advantageous to a motor vehicle having a hill descent mode.

  • Patent number: 7150145
Abstract: A diesel powered vehicle is provided with an SCR system which uses an external reducing reagent to convert NOx emissions in a manner which accounts for the effects of NOx transient emissions on the reducing catalyst. Actual NOx emissions produced by the engine are filtered using a variable NOx time constant in turn correlated to the reductant/NOx storage capacity of the reducing catalyst at its current temperature to account for changes in the SCR system attributed to NOx transient emissions. Catalyst temperature is filtered using a variable catalyst time constant corresponding to current space velocity of the exhaust gas to account for changes in the catalyst temperature attributed to NOx transient emissions. The reductant is metered on the basis of the filtered, corrected NOx concentration applied at a NSR ratio based, in turn, on the filtered, corrected reducing catalyst temperature.

  • Patent number: 6981049
Abstract: A system and method for processing data through a network firewall is presented. A more secure computer system initiates connections to one or more less secure computer systems. The more secure computer system and less secure computer system are separated by a firewall. The more secure computer system queries each less secure computer system periodically to see if there is event data or requests that the more secure computer system should respond to. The less secure computer systems store event data and requests from clients in a storage location until queried by the more secure computer system. When queried, the less secure computer system sends the event data or request information to the more secure computer system through the firewall. The more secure computer system either sends a response to the less secure computer system or sends the event data to an event console for a system administrator to analyze.
