Abstract: The invention relates to a process and to a device for producing a coherent web from long slivers which are produced by breaking-up the raw material fed and are then compacted to give a web which is subsequently glued and then pressed together with other webs to give blocks or the like. The raw material used is sticks or slabs which are split parallel to the fibers by vertically oscillating cutting motions, to give long slivers which are then compacted by ramming to give a web.

Abstract: Method for the manufacture of flakes from chips and apparatus for carrying out the method. The worn, in use, blade portions of a strip-steel knife are exchanged continuously or periodically with sharp strip-steel knives during the flake manufacturing operation. The feed of the strip-steel knives is preferably time-dependent and/or dependent on the energy consumption of the apparatus. Disposed longitudinally of the knife-ring are one or several magazines for supplying or/and receiving the strip-steel knives.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for the manufacture of chips from mineral, vegetable or embrittled materials. In the method the stationary wear plates and striking plates when worn from use are replaced during ball mill operation either continuously or periodically, either with or without pressure plates for the striking bars, and with different feeding speeds. The advance, or feeding, of these plates occurs in a time-dependent and/or energy consumption dependent manner. The apparatus includes a conventional beater mill equipped with a vertical or horizontal rotating beater wheel which has arranged on one or both sides of the stationary crushing path several magazines for storing wear plates and striking bars. The replacement of the wear plates and the striking bars is done by suitably constructed slide members.

Abstract: One piece ribbon spool molded from suitable plastic, with no fastening hardware with spool or on ribbon required, comprising spaced circular side guide flanges, a central cylindrical hub joined by radial ribs with ribbon-receiving segmental cylindrical wall, a female ribbon latch forming a hook for receiving free end of a male ribbon latch to anchor end of ribbon therebetween, other end of male latch forming unitary hinge connection, and outer surfaces of latches when in ribbon-anchoring position describing extension of cylindrical surface of segmental ribbon-receiving wall, the male latch being narrower than the space separating the side flanges, and apertures in the latter opposite the latches to facilitate engagement and disengagement of the ribbon and the spool.
