  • Publication number: 20080066637
Abstract: A cylinder of a printing unit is received in a bearing structure that includes a bearing block having a rotary bearing and which is movable along an adjustment path in linear bearings. The bearing structure is configured as a bearing unit that can be mounted as a whole. The bearing structure thus includes the rotary bearing, the bearing block and the linear bearings which enable the relative movement of the bearing block.

  • Publication number: 20080017061
Abstract: A system is provided for tempering, or controlling the temperature of a printing machine to maintain a desired temperature by the use of a cooling device. The cooling device prepares, on a first output, a tempering medium having at least one first desired temperature level, for a first supply current of the tempering medium for the components whose temperatures are to be controlled. The cooling device provides a first cooling process which can be carried out by a first fluid circuit. Tempering medium, which is to be cooled to a tempering temperature that is below the ambient, or an external temperature, are provided. A second cooling process is carried out by a device for cooling a second fluid circuit which is different from the first fluid circuit, by the use of outside air.

  • Publication number: 20070295230
Abstract: Vibrations of a cylinder, which is a part of a web-processing machine, and particularly a printing machine, are dampened. A functional correlation is determined for a course of a force of a channel passage through a nip point defined by the cylinder and a second cylinder. The functional correlation is pre-defined up to a scaling factor determining the height as a time course for an actuator force time course and is stored in a control or a regulating device. The vibration, or an amplitude of the vibration is measured during the operation of at least part of the cylinder by the use of a sensor. A maximum vibration amplitude on the roll body of the cylinder is then calculated from the measuring value. The actuators are controlled by the control or regulating device according to the pre-defined actuator force time course.

  • Publication number: 20070181021
Abstract: A printing group of a printing machine is comprised of at least two cylinders, a forme cylinder and a transfer cylinder. The transfer cylinder can be moved between a print-on position and a print-off position along a linear adjustment path. Both of the cylinders in the printing group can be driven mechanically to rotate independently of another printing group. This rotation is accomplished by at least one drive motor which is fixed on a frame of the printing machine.

  • Publication number: 20070169648
Abstract: A blanket is located on an outer surface of a roller, such as a printing unit roller. The blanket has an elastic and/or a compressive layer with a surface pressure that depends on the degree of the impression. The layer is selected so that a depending of the surface pressure on the impression has, at least in some areas, a slope of less than 700 (N/cm2)/mm.

  • Publication number: 20070062399
Abstract: A printing group of a printing machine is comprised of a pair of cylinders each having a circumference that corresponds essentially to a length of a section of a side to be printed. The effective generated surface of at least one of the cylinders cormprises, at the most, one break in the circumferential direction. The surface forms, in the longitudinal direction, a plurality of adjacently arranged breaks which, when viewed in the circumferential direction, are arranged in a staggered manner with respect to each other.

  • Publication number: 20060288890
Abstract: A printing group of a printing press has at least one forme cylinder, and at least one transfer cylinder which is assigned to the forme cylinders and which, in a print-on position, cooperate to form a printing position. The forme cylinder has at least one groove or slit on its circumferential face, which groove or slit is adapted to secure ends of a blanket or a dressing. The forme cylinder has a circumference which corresponds to a section length of a printed page. Rotating shafts of pairs of the forme and transfer cylinders, when in the print-on position, are located in a common plane. The circumferential width of each of the grooves or slits, in the shell faces of the cylinder does not exceed 3 mm.

  • Publication number: 20060201366
Abstract: The tack of an ink that is used in a printing group of a rotating printing press, or the temperature of a rotating component in the printing group is selected or controlled. This selection or control is accomplished in a manner so that optimal printing is achieved.

  • Publication number: 20060048660
Abstract: In connection with a method for characterization of a layer, a method and a device for determining a characteristic number, as well as a method for selecting a suitable dressing on rollers, or suitable geomtries of rollers of a printing press, a characterizing number for characterizing a layer is formed, or employed, which characterizes the roll-off behavior independently of a measuring device or an application in a particular printing group.

  • Publication number: 20060021245
Abstract: A dryer is used for drying a web of material. The dryer includes a passage duct for the material web. Drying takes place within this passage duct which includes at least one straight section. The dryer is disposed on a printing group which includes vertical web guidance. The passage duct straight section is essentially horizontal and receives the web of material delivered to it by the printing group. The passage duct is comprised of at least two sections through which the web of material travels in opposite directions.

  • Publication number: 20050223921
Abstract: A forme cylinder is supported and adjusted in a printing group of a rotary printing press, which group includes a transfer cylinder and a counter-pressure cylinder, which two cylinders include interacting support elements. The forme cylinder does not include a support element which interacts with the transfer cylinder. The forme cylinder has a shaft distance that can be adjusted during printing to adjust a contact pressure between the forme cylinder and the transfer cylinder. The forme cylinder may be covered with a waterless printing forme. The contact pressure between the forme cylinder and the transfer cylinder can be adjusted to a property, such as the compressibility, of the waterless printing forme.
