  • Patent number: 11933552
Abstract: The invention relates to a heat exchanger for heating gas to a temperature in the range from 150 to 400° C., wherein the gas is heated by indirect heat transfer and all the surfaces of the walls of the heat exchanger which come into contact with the gas have been hot dip galvanized and the surfaces which come into contact with the gas, after the hot dip galvanization, have been heat treated at a temperature in the range from 400 to 750° C. The invention further relates to the use of the heat exchanger.

  • Publication number: 20050053118
Abstract: A system and method for remotely measuring the temperature of an object using microwave radiometry that may be used in hostile environments. A single pole-single throw reflective PIN diode switch is operable in a PASS mode and a BLOCK mode. In the PASS mode, the switch passes the power received from the object to a low-noise block converter (“LNB”) for amplification. In the BLOCK mode, the switch blocks the object power and reflects the load noise power of an ambient temperature load to the LNB. A detector diode detects the amplified power output during both the BLOCK and PASS mode and the AC signal from the detector is converted to an output signal proportional to the difference in the noise powers detected in the PASS and BLOCK modes.

  • Patent number: 5840905
Abstract: A process for the preparation of 4-hydroxy-1,2,2,6,6-pentamethylpiperidine (HPMP) from 4-oxo-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine (TAA) is described, in which TAA is first reduced to 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine (HTMP) by means of catalytic hydrogenation in water, the resulting crude solution, if desired after concentration by distillation, is reacted with formaldehyde or paraformaldehyde in at least 20% molar excess, and with formic acid, and the crude product melt separated from the reaction mixture is worked up by distillation.

  • Patent number: 4605340
Abstract: A pile splice includes two splice plates, each having a dove-tail shaped groove aligned with the groove in the abutting plate. Slip cams are disposed in the channel, defined by the grooves, for outward movement to draw the plates together. Drive wedges are driven between the slip cams to drive them outwardly to draw and hold the plates together and to form a massive, strong pile splice. Wedge forces are distributed to increase clamping forces. Headed reinforcing bars are securely held in the splice plates by plastic bushings to facilitate splice plate alignment and pile casting. Methods are provided.

  • Patent number: 4355927
Abstract: An improved piling structure, for particularly advantageous use in sand or in sandy soils, has three elements including a pilot, a frusto-conical disk and a piling integrating the elements together. The disk is of preformed mesh reinforced cementitious material and is disposed on the driven pilot at the bottom of a hole, excavated for disk placement. The cementitious piling is poured onto the disk and pilot, integrating the structure. An alternate unitary pole support includes a hollow, lined casing, with a disk intermediate its ends, and an outer tube extending above the casing top to form a cementitious sleeve over the juncture of the casing and the pole. Methods of assembly and erection are included.
