  • Publication number: 20230318040
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an aluminum-ether-based composition that can serve a dual role as either an electrolyte for use in batteries and/or as an electroplating bath for ambient temperature aluminum deposition. The aluminum-ether-based composition facilitates aluminum ion transport between anodes and cathodes and thus can be used to replace expensive and hydroscopic ionic liquid electrolytes typically used for aluminum-based batteries. The aluminum-ether-based composition also can be used for causing aluminum deposition at ambient temperature and thus can be used to form aluminum-containing coatings with less energy consumption.

  • Patent number: 11137458
Abstract: A rotor housing assembly for NMR spectroscopy. An elongate rotor has a distal drive end, a proximal end and an internal sample space positioned along its length between the drive and proximal ends. The rotor is driveable about a rotation axis by a drive gas flow. A rotor housing has an interior space in which the rotor is at least partially received. At least one first heated gas flow inlet is positioned opposite the internal sample space, through which a first heated gas flow is controllably flowable into the interior space to heat it and the rotor. At least a pair of spaced apart second heated gas flow outlets are axially spaced from the first heated gas flow inlet to controllably convey a second heated gas flow to heat distal and proximal areas of the sample space to minimize a temperature gradient extending axially within the sample space.

  • Publication number: 20180292476
Abstract: NMR microprobe detectors and methodologies that provide enhanced signal sensitivity for low-volume sample detection and analysis are described. In one embodiment the microprobe detector is a flat wire detector with a strip conductor having a length and width and ratio greater than 5 with a substantially uniform surface positioned on a low loss substrate in contact with a sample holder having a generally thin wall or at least a thin portion near where the sample probing and analysis occur.

  • Patent number: 9366736
Abstract: A magic-angle-spinning (MAS) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) probe is described that includes double containment enclosures configured to seal and contain hazardous samples for analysis. The probe is of a modular design that ensures containment of hazardous samples during sample analysis while preserving spin speeds for superior NMR performance and convenience of operation.
