  • Patent number: 10816268
Abstract: A grate bar (for forming a plank of a conveyor grate for transporting bulk material) includes at least an up-facing surface for supporting bulk material, a down-facing surface for supporting the grate bar on at least one grate bar rest, front end and rear-end sides, first and second profiled narrow sides. The first and second profiled narrow sides are complementary to one another and form a moving gap therebetween if and/or when the first profiled narrow side of the chosen grate bar is positioned adjacent to the second profiled narrow side of a neighboring grate bar (that is identical to the chosen grate bar at least with respect to the profile of the second profiled narrow side). The grate bar can be easily replaced if a front edge between the up-facing surface and the front-end side has a front edge curvature, a rear edge between the up-facing surface and the rear-end side has a rear edge curvature and the rear edge curvature is complementary to the front edge curvature.

  • Patent number: 6745893
Abstract: A bearing system which is for suspending the swing frame of a conveyor grate in a swinging manner on a support structure. Two elastic spring rods are arranged next to each other in a common plane of swinging. The spring rods have a first end clamped in a fixed manner on clamping points of a first structural component. The second ends of the spring rods are clamped in a fixed manner to connection points on a rigid coupling system. The rigid coupling system is connected with the second structural component. The spring rods are inclined toward each other in the swinging plane. The coupling system is connected with the second structural component so that it can be tilted in the swinging plane via a flexible connection. Because of the inclination of the spring rods, when they are jointly deflected, one of the spring rods always describes a downward arc and the other an upward arc.

  • Patent number: 5992334
Abstract: A loose-material grate includes a grate surface for receiving loose material and a chamber arrangement below the grate surface supplies the grate surface with a gas, for example cooling air. A lattice arrangement with adjustable openings is provided spaced from the grate surface. The adjustable openings communicate with grate surface openings of the associated grate surface. The lattice arrangement preferably is divided into several lattice sections, which have openings adjusted independently from one another, whereby the adjustable openings of the lattice sections, each sealed off from other lattice sections, communicate with the grate surface openings of associated areas of the grate surface. The adjustable openings of the lattice sections enable adjustment of the resistance of the grate, if necessary, differently at various grate sections depending on the demands for cooling.

  • Patent number: 5862906
Abstract: This invention concerns a grate plate arrangement for step grates wherein a plurality of grate plates (2) can be laid side-by-side on to a grate carrier (2) and can each be fixed to the grate carrier by means of a respective clamping device (11) which engages the grate plate and the grate carrier. In this arrangement, the clamping device (11) includes at least one clamping element (12) whose end (14), which is towards the grate plate, engages through an opening (15) in a front end wall (3) of the grate plate (2). The clamping device has clamping means (16) which are actuable from the front end wall side. The other clamping element end, which is towards the grate carrier, is provided with anchoring means (13) for force-transmitting connection to the grate carrier.

  • Patent number: 5759026
Abstract: In a process for the coating treatment of hot, non-homogeneous bulk material using a grate cooler having a conveyor grate for conveying the bulk material, separation of the bulk material is effected in accordance with grain fractions which are subjected to further treatment separately. All the bulk material which is delivered on to the conveyor grate is pre-cooled in a common bulk material bed to a given temperature. The material is graded into a plurality of grain fractions downstream of the conveyor grate, and at least individual grain fractions are separately post-cooled.

  • Patent number: 4966548
Abstract: The heat treatment of solids by combustion, cooling, or the like with the aid of gas may take place on a grate conveying such solids while the gas is passed through openings in the surface of the grate. In order to provide lateral clearances of such grates with the same order of narrowness as the majority of the grate's openings, the mobile framework of the grate is suspended by tension elements inclined at an angle of at least 3 degrees relative to the perpendicular. If the mobile frame deviates from a straight course, the inclined suspension creates a centering force guiding the mobile frame without mechanical contact and wear. As a result, the lateral clearances for thermal expansion and building tolerances are reduced from about 20 to 2 mm.

  • Patent number: 4600380
Abstract: The combustion, cooling or other treatment of solids with the aid of gas may take place on a grate carrying or conveying said solids while the gas is passed through openings provided in the surface of the grate. In order to retain said solids entirely above said grate surface, to cool the grate surface sufficiently and to distribute the gas evenly in the solids to be treated, thin slots, inclined in the direction of transport, curved in the manner of a siphone and maintaining a high resistance to gas penetration are provided in grate plates composed to form a grate. The slots are formed between elements of such grate plates which can be manufactured by casting. The design of these grate plates avoids the necessity of handling dribblings passing said grates. The grate plates can be aerated through grate beams carrying them.

  • Patent number: 4470704
Abstract: A process for mixing materials in bulk comprises the continuous and simultaneous withdrawal, through discharge openings distributed about the periphery of a mixing silo, of the material in such a manner that the vertical velocity of the descending material increases progressively about the periphery of the silo. Apparatus in accordance with the invention comprises a mixing silo having a relatively large number of discharge openings and means for insuring that the velocity differences in the material being withdrawn through adjacent openings is relatively small whereby the variation in material vertical velocity from the lowest to the miximum value will occur over a large number of discharge openings.

  • Patent number: 4457081
Abstract: In a cooling process for material beds of bulk materials like cement clinker taking place on grate coolers increased bed depths and increased air velocities are provided by decelerating an upper layer of the material bed, which may be a fluidized bed of a fine fraction of the bulk material, with respect to the bottom layer or fixed bed of the material bed in order to obtain a material discharge of uniform temperature. For the purpose of such deceleration an adjustable stop wall is provided leaving an adjustable passage towards the grate for the material. The stop wall includes a thrust limit detector to allow for a crushing or passing of any chunks. Hot dribblings may be pneumatically recycled onto the top of the material bed by means of the increased air pressure.
