  • Publication number: 20140166889
Abstract: Compositions and methods are described for transparent glass composite having nanoparticles therein that scintillate in the presence of nuclear radiation, particularly gamma rays, but also x-rays, alpha particles, beta particles, and neutrons. The transparent glass composites can be prepared by a melt/cool process to produce the transparent glass composite. The wavelength of light emitted by the transparent glass composite can be tailored based on the materials used to make the glass composite. A detector that utilizes the transparent glass composite can measure nuclear radiation from numerous sources.

  • Publication number: 20050155037
Abstract: A data processing system receives a first data object having a plurality of first data fields from an application programs. When the first data object is received, the data processing system generates a second data object. Initially, the second data object is empty and has a number of data fields with unique field names. Data is transferred from data fields of the first data object to data fields of the second data object having identical field names. A sub-set of the data fields of the second data object is identified and data that is transferred to data fields of the sub-set is used to select one of a plurality of data processing functions. The data that is transferred to the second data object is evaluated and a resulting value is returned to the application program.

  • Patent number: 6196782
Abstract: A push pin is provided for securing pieces of paper, photographs, postcards, posters and similar items to a support surface without puncturing or otherwise damaging the item. The push pin includes a body portion and a pin. In a preferred embodiment, the body portion defines a raised circumferential portion to facilitate insertion and withdrawal of the push pin. In one embodiment, the push pin includes a linear spring extending from the body portion to a distal end. Advantageously, the distal end of the linear spring at least partially contacts the item and urges the item towards the support surface. In an alternate embodiment, the body portion defines a groove defining an elongate member extending from the body portion to a distal end. Advantageously, the distal end of the elongate member at least partially contacts the item and urges the item towards the support surface without piercing or otherwise damaging the item.

  • Patent number: 5371930
Abstract: A cart for transferring a warp exchange system from a machine that prepares such a warp exchange system to a warp beam lifting carriage, is equipped to at least temporarily store a prepared warp exchange system after having picked up the system from a warp drawing-in carriage that forms part of the machine for preparing the warp exchange system. The cart is further compatible to transfer the stored system to a warp beam lifting carriage which in turn inserts the system into a loom. The cart makes sure that the warp exchange system is presented with the proper orientation relative to the loom so that the insertion can take place in the manner of a cassette formed by the cart and the warp exchange system including the warp beam.

  • Patent number: 4965651
Abstract: An integrated logic circuit with complementary transistors which is constructed from cells which form reproductions of logic equations, in which each cell has at least three transistors arranged one next to the other in a row and three complementary transistors arranged one next to the other. Series arrangements of transistors or transistor circuits in one row corrugated to parallel arrangements of transistors or transistor circuits in the other row. This arrangement results in compact layouts which are easy to design with computer assistance. The arrangement is particularly useful for MSI and LSI circuits.

  • Patent number: 4864148
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting and monitoring changes in the position of rotating shafts in which a light ray generally parallel to the shafts is directed to measurement positions (which are offset from each other by about 90.degree. in the circumferential direction of the shafts) to a rectangular prism, which reflects the ray to a ray receiver, which supplies signals, which change with any change in the position of the shafts. In known apparatus for making possible a continuous monitoring of the alignment condition of coaxial shafts, the ray source and the ray receiver are arranged on one shaft and a prism is arranged on the other. The signals of the ray receiver and the power supply thereof require the use of complex and unreliable transmission means between the rotating and stationary parts of the apparatus. According to the invention light rays (S and S'), come from two separate source-receiver pairs (2.sub.1,9.sub.1, and 2.sub.2 and 9.sub.

  • Patent number: 4398813
Abstract: A photographic camera with automatic setting of diaphragm and exposure time. A light sensitive circuit generates pulses and is connected to a diaphragm counting stage for comparing signals from the light sensitive circuit with preset signals in the diaphragm counting stage and for providing a stop pulse to an electromagnetic diaphragm setting stage. A counter is connected to a pulse generator and to the diaphragm counting stage in a stop control connection. A start control provision connects the output of the diaphragm counting stage to an exposure time forming stage. The exposure time forming stage can be connected to the counter for providing automatic setting of the time determining part of the exposure time forming stage depending on the counting state of the counter. A shutter opening member can be connected to the diaphragm counting stage for receiving a control signal for the release part of the shutter opening member.

  • Patent number: 4398065
Abstract: A circuit arrangement determines the identity of a repeater in a telecommunications systems, in particular a telephone system, which, either individually or as one of several of a group, is permanently assigned to a specific zone of origin which is individually characterized by an incoming connection line. During establishment of a telephone connection, in particular an international telephone connection, or a connection foreign to the particular exchange, identification can be made individually in dependence upon the zone of origin of the calling subscriber and a control path, which serves to exchange signals, and which leads to a translator is established. The translator supplies, inter alia, information, for the ongoing connection establishment and for the assignment of a charge pulse train.
