  • Patent number: 5161920
Abstract: The invention is directed to a cutting tool with a cutter bit or a carving insert, which is held exchangeably in a one-piece tool support and lies in contact with opposite jaws of the tool support that form a clamping gap, with prismatic clamping surfaces disposed in common with those of the jaws and with at least one clamping element, such as a tightening screw for narrowing the clamping gap and with at least one separately formed clamping surface section, which, with respect to the direction of the clamping force initiated by the manipulated tightening screw, runs obliquely in such a manner, that a component of force, which is directed towards the open end of the clamping gap, acts upon the cutter bit.

  • Patent number: 5040930
Abstract: The invention relates to a cutting tool, particularly a carving insert or cutter bit, which is exchangeable in tool holders in each case has a cutting wedge, which is adjacent to a face, one or several nubs in the form of spherical segments, truncated cones and/or truncated pyramids being formed on the face.

  • Patent number: 5035545
Abstract: A holder for cutting tool inserts, particularly for carving or cutter bits, with a gripper slot, which in each case holds these inserts and the opposite jaws of which have an oval slotted area, into which a prop-open key with an elliptical cross sectional profile can be inserted and turned. The oval slotted region is formed from two recesses, which lie opposite to one another each in a jaw and which run corresponding to the two smaller apical circles of curvature of the elliptical cross sectional profile and are at a distance from one another, the magnitude of which lies between the length of the larger axis of the ellipse and that of the smaller axis of the ellipse.

  • Patent number: 5031492
Abstract: A basic tool holder for attachment in an accommodating recess of a tool support, particularly a turret head, with a base part, to which can be attached a work-holding device by one or several clamping means, between which the tool is clamped. A component of the clamping force, directed radially towards the tool support, is produced by at least one abutment face between the base part and the work-holding device forming a wedge-shaped incline for the clamping means.

  • Patent number: 4580930
Abstract: A tool for cutting material includes a holding member having a slit-like opening forming first and second spaced jaws, a cutter insert mounted between the spaced jaws in the slit-like opening, and a positioning arrangement on the holding member positioning the cutter insert in the opening, whereby the spaced jaws hold the cutter insert with a predetermined clamping pressure providing for proportional increase of the clamping pressure relative to the cutting pressure applied to the cutter insert.

  • Patent number: 4573832
Abstract: Single or multiple recessing tool with cutting plates loosely mounted in an opening of the holder with the cutting plates, possibly using shortened gage block-like supplemental plates, clamped against the bottom and one side wall of the opening by means of an essentially L-shaped mounting frame overlapping the plates of the plate package from above and one side with a clamping pressure component being produced when clamping the mounting frame against the bottom via a wedge ramp lateral to the side wall and with adjusting ribs being arranged on the bottom of the opening and/or the bottom side of the upper clamping leg of the mounting frame engaging into the fitting grooves of all of the plates.

  • Patent number: 4011050
Abstract: A cutting-off or parting tool includes a holder detachably mounted on a support and a cutting bit mounted on the holder by means of a clamping plate. The lower and upper portions of the cutting bit are V-shaped and accommodated in corresponding V-shaped grooves in the holder and clamping plate respectively, thereby providing a secure mounting for the cutting bit.
