  • Patent number: 7245932
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing real time updates of a database describing the features of individual terminals of a shared plan telecommunications group for communication sessions from and to that individual terminal. The characteristics (numbering plan, incoming and outgoing screening, alternate routing, types of service provided) of each of the individual stations of the shared communication plan are stored in a database accessed through a server. The database can be updated in real time by a designated one of the stations in the shared group. The designated station can also handle appeals for an exception to the restrictions stored in the database. The designated station can receive immediate or periodic information on activity of individual stations, or can receive such information on request.

  • Patent number: 7171228
Abstract: An application server component of an apparatus in one example receives one or more notifications of one or more open communication sessions from one or more first communication devices. The application server component sends one or more of the one or more notifications of one or more of the one or more open communication sessions to one or more second communication devices. Upon a request by a communication device of the one or more second communication devices to join an open communication session of the one or more of the one or more open communication sessions, the application server component initiates a connection of the communication device to the open communication session.

  • Patent number: 7130619
Abstract: Conditional reconnection of a suspended call occurs responsive to a mobile unit (108) sending a mobile-originated reconnect (MORC) message into the network (102). • Patent number: 7107054
Abstract: Reconnection of a mobile unit to a call session controlled by a first MSC is supported responsive to a network-initiated or mobile-originated reconnect attempt even in instances where the mobile unit has roamed to a border cell controlled by a second MSC. In a network-initiated reconnect attempt, the first MSC sends a suspended call page request to a second MSC. The second MSC pages the mobile unit, sets up a bearer channel to the mobile unit, and sends to the first MSC a suspended call page response including indicia of the bearer channel set up by the second MSC. The first MSC establishes a bearer channel to the second MSC thereby reconnecting the mobile unit to the call session. In a mobile-originated reconnect attempt, the mobile unit sends a mobile-originated reconnect message to the second MSC.

  • Publication number: 20040170265
Abstract: Conference call security is enhanced by a process for validating participants seeking to join the conference call by terminating an incoming call at a conference bridge and requiring a valid conference code input by the caller. A type of security to be utilized for the particular conference call is determined. A first validation method determines if the caller is authorized to access the conference call, and if the caller is validated, granting the caller access to participate in the conference call. If the first validation method does not validate the caller, a second validation method that is different from the first validation method is used to determine if the caller is authorized to access the conference call. If the second validation method validates the caller, the caller is granted access to participate in the conference call. If the second validation method does not validate the caller, the caller is denied access to participate in the conference call.

  • Publication number: 20040042595
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for an originator of a voice mail message stored on a voice mail system to modify the message after the session in which the message has ended. An originator initiates a session with a voice mail system, which queries the originator as to the intent of the session. If the session is to record a new message, the voice mail system accepts the message and a unique message identifier is assigned to the message. If the originator wishes to modify an existing voice mail message, the voice mail system requests the originator to supply the unique message identifier. After the message has been identified, the originator is given several options to modify the existing message.

  • Publication number: 20030231746
Abstract: The present invention provides a method to allow conference call participants to determine the identity of the current speaker without interrupting the call by verbally requesting the identity of the speaker. When a conference call is established, a conference bridge initiates a connection to an Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) system. The conference bridge prompts each participant as they join the call to repeat words on a predetermined list. The repeated words are sent to the ASR system, where a voice profile is generated for each conference participant. When a conference participant wishes to know the identity of the current speaker, the participant notifies the conference bridge. The conference bridge sends the request to the ASR system, where a comparison is made between the voice of the current speaker and the voice templates. When a match is found, the identity of the current speaker is returned to the requesting participant.
