  • Patent number: 4769831
Abstract: A rotating anode x-ray tube has an anode magnetically seated in a housing in non-contacting fashion. For non-contacting transmission and dissipation of the anode current, a hollow cylindrical rotor of the anode is provided with ribs on its interior surface. A stationary hollow cylinder is disposed inside of the rotor, the stationary hollow cylinder being also provided with ribs in registry with the ribs on the interior of the rotor, and being connected to the anode lead. Current is thereby transferred from the stationary cylinder to the rotating hollow cylinder by corona discharge.

  • Patent number: 4331876
Abstract: In an exemplary embodiment, a rectifier bridge is inserted in the primary circuit of the high voltage transformer and has an electronic circuit for adjusting the primary current to adjust the amplitude of the x-ray tube voltage pulse waveform. The comparator of the control loop cooperates with a storage circuit which is connected to a release circuit which releases it by means of a release pulse in a short time interval within a half wave of the x-ray tube voltage waveform for storing an instantaneous value of the error until the next release pulse. The storage circuit drives the electronic voltage adjusting circuit to adjust the pulse amplitude without distorting its waveform.

  • Patent number: 4238681
Abstract: In an exemplary embodiment, a bridge rectifier is coupled with the primary circuit of the high voltage transformer. In the d.c. current branch of the bridge rectifier, a smoothing capacitor and a thyristor are arranged. The thyristor is turned on and off with a pulse duty cycle which determines the capacitor voltage and hence the x-ray tube voltage. At the thyristor, an LC-oscillatory circuit is connected whose capacitance when the thyristor is conductive, is discharged via the latter and which effects the extinction of the thyristor via a free-running diode which is conductive in return oscillation phase and which is disposed parallel to the thyristor. In this manner, a high switching frequency of the thyristor and hence a minimal ripple of the x-ray tube voltage can be achieved.
