Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the preparation of atorvastatin adsorbates and solvates thereof, wherein one starts from a solution comprising the pharmaceutical active pharmaceutical ingredient substantially dissolved therein, one suspenses an adsorber material therein selected from the group of the celluloses, cellulose derivatives, polyols, sugars, sugar derivatives, maltodextrins, cyclodextrins, starches, polydextroses or mixtures thereof, and one removes the solvent by drying. Also, the invention relates to atorvastatin adsorbates obtainable according to this method as well as pharmaceutical formulations comprising them.
