Abstract: A chamber for placement over a patient while allowing medical personnel to perform various medical procedures releasing virus, bacteria, or other contaminants, such as tracheal intubation, on the patient, including a frame forming and supporting two sidewalls and a curved center portion extending between the sidewalls of a transparent body, wherein the body includes at least one access hole, and wherein the chamber surrounds the patient's head and one of the sidewalls deforms around the patient's body in order to capture and exhaust any of the virus, bacteria, or other contaminants released by the patient during the medical procedure. Abstract: There is provided a cap liner including a fluid impermeable layer for venting gas to and from the container and an adhering device for adhering the impermeable layer to a rim of a container and a channel extending therethrough for venting gas therethrough. Also provided by the present invention is a method of sealing an opening of a container by affixing a meltable layer of a sealing member to a container rim and venting the container through a vent patch, meltable layer, a foil layer, and a fluid impermeable layer having pathways thereon.

Abstract: A canister filter assembly (10) for use in a vacuum line for trapping particulates and liquids from fluid drawn through the vacuum line including a cupped shaped container portion (12) and a lid portion (14) disposed over the container (12) in sealing engagement therewith. A filter assembly (16) including a hydrophobic filter (32) and a prefilter (34) filters the particles and aerosols from the fluids passing through the fluid outlet (30). Abstract: The disposable filter device of the invention has a housing with a fluid inlet chamber and fluid outlet chamber separated by a hydrophobic filter and having a hydrophilic filter on the inlet chamber side of the hydrophobic filter. In the liquid aspirating system, the disposable filter device is connected between the liquid collection container and the inlet to the aspirator, the hydrophobic filter functioning to prevent the passage of any liquid to the aspirator and the hydrophilic filter functioning to prevent a large accumulation of liquid on the inlet chamber of the filter device and to better assure against any spillage of liquid in the inlet chamber during replacement of the device.

Abstract: The filter device of this invention comprises a housing with an inlet chamber and an outlet chamber separated by a deformable microporous membrane, the outlet chamber containing a perforated membrane support surface of concave compound curvature which is spaced from the wall of the outlet chamber, the deformable membrane being in contact with and conforming to the compound curvature of the support surface when fluid flows through the membrane from the inlet chamber to the outlet chamber.
