  • Publication number: 20180170823
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for the conversion of methanol to gasoline. Such methods may be performed be the sequential conversion of methanol to dimethyl ether, the conversion of dimethyl ether (and unconverted methanol, if present) to an intermediate olefin-rich product, and the oligomerization of the olefin-rich product to gasoline boiling range hydrocarbons.

  • Publication number: 20150175898
Abstract: Methods for organic compound conversion are disclosed. Particular methods include providing a first mixture comprising ?10.0 wt % of at least one oxygenate, based on the weight of the first mixture; contacting said first mixture in at least a first moving bed reactor with a catalyst under conditions effective to covert at least a portion of the first mixture to a product stream comprising water, hydrogen, and one or more hydrocarbons; and separating from said product stream (i) at least one light stream and ii) at least one heavy stream, wherein the method is characterized by a recycle ratio of ?5.0.

  • Publication number: 20130281753
Abstract: An unbound catalyst composition comprises a zeolite and phosphorus in an amount between about 0.01 wt % and about 3 wt % of the total catalyst composition. The catalyst composition, as calcined at ˜1000° F. (˜538° C.) for at least ˜3 hours, can exhibit (i) 2,2-dimethylbutane diffusivity >1.5×10?2 sec?1 when measured at ˜120° C. and ˜60 torr (˜8 kPa), (ii) coke deactivation rate constant <˜0.15, and (iii) alpha value at least 10, and further exhibiting at least one of: (a) mesoporosity >0.2 ml/g; (b) microporous surface area at least 375 m2/g; and (c) coke deactivation rate constant <0.05 after steaming in ˜100% steam for ˜96 hours at ˜1000° F. (˜538° C.).

  • Publication number: 20110277377
Abstract: This invention provides low sulfur fuels, particularly low sulfur bunker fuels, comprising hydroprocessed pyrolysis oil. The hydroprocessed pyrolysis oil can be produced using a catalyst suited to processing pyrolysis oils that may be relatively high in water content and under relatively low severity conditions to limit water formation, while making the hydroprocessed pyrolysis oil more stable than prior to hydroprocessing. The pyrolysis oil can be converted to a more stable hydroprocessed product, e.g., by converting at least a majority of the aldehydes, ketones, and/or carboxylic acids in the pyrolysis oil to more highly stable compounds, such as alcohols. The hydroprocessed product can be particularly suited as a blend component for producing a variety of reduced sulfur fuels.
