Abstract: The application relates to a method carried out at a hitchhiking management entity wherein a ride offer is received from a first subscriber and a hitchhike request is received from a requesting subscriber including a desired destination. Furthermore optical data are received showing a surrounding of the current location of the requesting subscriber. In the optical data a marker and a vehicle is identified providing a possible ride. A current route is determined for the vehicle and it is determined whether the current route of the vehicle has a drop off location closer to the desired destination than the current location, wherein in the affirmative, a reservation offer is provided to the requesting subscriber indicating reservation information comprising at least an identifier of the at least one vehicle providing the possible ride.
