Publication number: 20130189702Abstract: The invention is in the field of analytical technology and relates to an improved procedure for determining the concentration or activity of an analyte in a sample. Specifically the invention provides an automated algorithm for the quality control of (RT-)qPCR reactions. Plotting the fluorescence intensity of a reporter dye divided by the fluorescence intensity of a passive reference dye against the cycle number leads to a so-called sigmoid function which is characterized by a background phase, an exponential growth phase and a plateau phase. Since the fluorescence intensity as a function of cycles relates to the initial number of template molecules in the sample, qPCR curves can be used to quantify the amount of RNA or DNA fragments in the sample by determination of a so-called Cq value.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 7, 2011Publication date: July 25, 2013Applicant: Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Inc.Inventors: Gabriela Altmann, Mareike Dartmann, Inke Sabine Feder, Tanja Ropers, Claudia Roth, Karsten Weber

Publication number: 20130090863Abstract: The invention describes how to estimate delta-Cq values from measured (raw-)Cq values gained from PCR measurements and how to calculate confidence intervals for them. This is realized by the following processing steps: A noise model, which might be constructed on some training PCR data, calculates the distribution of the true target material concentration of a single well for an observed measurement results. Said distribution is calculated for all types of measurement results including “Numeric” raw-Cq values as well as Cq being “Undetected”, which denotes that no fluorescence signal was detected during all cycles and thus corresponds to no or very few target molecules.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 16, 2011Publication date: April 11, 2013Applicant: SIEMENS HEALTHCARE DIAGNOSTICS INC.Inventors: Karsten Weber, Inke Sabine Feder

Publication number: 20070098904Abstract: A device and a method for reducing particle exposure to substrates during thermal treatment are disclosed. Semiconductor wafers may be rotated on a device within a process chamber divided into two partial chambers such that a first partial chamber contains the substrate to be thermally treated and a second partial chamber contains at least parts of the rotation device. Between the partial chambers, a flow of gas is set such that gas from the second partial chamber is substantially prevented from passing into the first partial chamber. In this way, particles which are produced by rotation abrasion in the second partial chamber are largely prevented from passing onto the substrate to be thermally treated. This device and this method are particularly advantageous if the rotation is realized by means of a gas drive, wherein the gas used for the rotation can be introduced directly into the second partial chamber.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 25, 2006Publication date: May 3, 2007Inventors: Helmut Aschner, Patrick Schmid, Thomas Theiler, Ottmar Heudorfer, Karsten Weber, Conor O'Carroll

Patent number: 6449428Abstract: Air bearings support a rotating wafer carrying base in an RTP system. The base in proximity to the air bearing is protected from warping due to absorption of radiation from the hot wafer being treated. The most preferred embodiment splits the base into an inner disk carrying the wafer and an outer ring, where the inner ring which absorbs the most energy contacts and is supported at three points by the outer disk which is supported by the air bearing.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 1998Date of Patent: September 10, 2002Assignee: Mattson Technology Corp.Inventors: Helmut Aschner, Andreas Hauke, Karsten Weber, Dieter Zernickel

Patent number: 5546640Abstract: A clamp for arrangement on a carrying arm is described. The clamp has a first and a second clamp half (10, 20) with in each case two lateral angle pieces (12; 21 ), in which are located a hole (14; 23) for positioning the clamp halves (10, 20) on the carrying arm, whereby the angle pieces (12, 21) which are directed against each other lie pairwise against each other and in each case one angle piece (21) of each clamp half (10, 20) lies on the inside and the other angle piece (12) of the same clamp half (10, 20) lies on the outside, and a legged spring (4) which lies between the clamp halves (10, 20) and keeps the clamps (3) closed. The internal angle piece (21) of one clamp half (10; 20) interlocks rotatably with the external angle piece (12) of the other clamp half (20; 10), and the legged spring (4) fills, in axial direction, the space between the internal angle pieces (21) in each case of the clamp halves (10, 20).Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 1994Date of Patent: August 20, 1996Assignee: Mawa Metallwarenfabrik Wagner GmbHInventors: Karlhans Kronauer, Josef Aigner, Franz Klein, Karsten Weber, Monika Schmid, Robert Pfab
