  • Patent number: 9838692
Abstract: As part of a video encoding or decoding operation on video data, a video coder performs a coding operation for a current video unit of the video data. As part of performing the coding operation for the current video unit, the video coder determines the availabilities of one or more video units that neighbor the current video unit. In order to determine the availability of a video unit that neighbors the current video unit, the video coder identifies, based on availabilities of video units that neighbor a parent video unit of the current video unit, an entry in a lookup table. The identified entry indicates the availability of the video unit that neighbors the current video unit. The video coder then performs a coding operation on the current video unit based on whether the video unit that neighbors the current video unit is available.

  • Publication number: 20130271565
Abstract: An apparatus for processing video data includes a processor configured to associate, in a minimum processing unit (MPU), one pixel of a depth image of a reference picture with one or more pixels of a first chroma component of a texture image of the reference picture, associate, in the MPU, the one pixel of the depth image with one or more pixels of a second chroma component of the texture image, and associate, in the MPU, the one pixel of the depth image with a plurality of pixels of a luma component of the texture image. The number of the pixels of the luma component is different than the number of the one or more pixels of the first chroma component and the number of the one or more pixels of the second chroma component.

  • Publication number: 20120262542
Abstract: Implementations include methods and systems for a converting reference images or video to 3D images or video. A two-step conversion is described which accomplishes warping and hole filling on a pixel-by-pixel basis. In one implementation, of a plurality of pixel values of a reference image at a plurality of first collinear pixels locations are successively mapped to a respective plurality of second pixel locations of a destination image. Between two of the mappings, a location of a hole between two of the second pixel locations may be identified and filled.

  • Publication number: 20120183271
Abstract: This disclosure describes techniques for allowing a user to indicate the significance of portions of a video during video capturing by applying pressure to a surface of a video capture device. The user may indicate different levels of significance of different portions of the video by applying different amounts of pressure. The captured video may be encoded with the amount of applied pressure. During encoding, portions with applied pressure may be encoded using a different coding quality than portions with no applied pressure. Additionally, during editing and/or playback of the captured video, portions with applied pressure may be displayed and/or played back differently from portions with no applied pressure.
