Abstract: A caregiver converge device and system associated with a patient room within a hospital are provided. The device and system include: an operating system configured to provide operational states of the caregiver converge device, the operational states provide work flow functionality for an assigned caregiver of a patient in the patient room; a touch screen display for displaying a user interface configured to facilitate the assigned caregiver utilizing the work flow functionality, the touch screen display configured to accept input from the assigned caregiver; and a caregiver proximity sensor configured to determine whether the assigned caregiver enters the patient room; where the operating system updates the work flow functionality for the assigned caregiver upon the caregiver proximity sensor determining the assigned caregiver enters the patient room.

The system includes a workflow stratification server configured to receive and analyze event messages from a nurse call system and interface devices. The workflow stratification server determines a current state of the hospital environment and relevant applicable conditions for each event message identified as a trigger event. That way, the workflow stratification server prioritizes the trigger events and provides responses to the trigger events in a manner that takes into account resources in the hospital environment.

Abstract: A system, method, and device are provided for sharing staff assignments between a nurse call system in a hospital and other hospital systems possessing assignments interfaces. Sharing is achieved by an assignment server working in conjunction with a nurse call system of the hospital. The assignment server contains an assignment interface that exchanges staff assignments with interface devices and the nurse call system. The assignment server is further capable of updating and synchronizing staff assignments between the interface devices and the nurse call system. Interface devices can be assigned to staff, staff can be assigned to locations within the hospital, and interface devices can be assigned to locations within the hospital by accessing a publishing system and updating staff assignments within the nurse call system. Accordingly, redundancy of a staff member updating each various interface device a staff member utilizes is reduced.
