Publication number: 20240094099Abstract: The methods for sample preparation disclosed herein utilize an air phase to reduce aqueous phase associated with magnetic particles bound to nucleic acids to decrease carryover of one or more contaminants, such as, cell debris, chaotropic agents, non-specifically attached molecules, and the like. This air-transfer step is improved by using a combination of a first population of magnetic particles and a second population of magnetic particles, where the first population of magnetic particles is capable of associating with nucleic acids, and the magnetic particles in the second population are at least two-times larger in size than the size of the magnetic particles in the first population. As discussed herein, the use of this second population of magnetic particles improves the transfer of the first population of magnetic particles by reducing loss of the first magnetic particles during the transfer. The sample preparation methods may be semi-automated or completely automated.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 28, 2022Publication date: March 21, 2024Inventors: Austin M. Patent number: 9928523Abstract: A system and method for booking targeted internet advertisements to web page impressions using a targeting dimension dictionary. The method commences by constructing a targeting dimension dictionary using a dictionary schema such as an XML DTD or other schema language, then retrieving the targeting dimension dictionary to book the impression using a target predicate wherein the target predicate is constructed at least in part using the targeting dimension dictionary. Such target predicates are used to match (i.e. satisfying the target predicate) an advertisement to the impression. The targeting dimension dictionary comprises a targeting dimension object, a targeting dimension attribute type object, and an application attribute type object. Dimension attribute type objects can include a segment definition for codifying sets or ranges of values. Such a targeting dimension dictionary can be accessed by various tools used in internet advertising campaigns for targeting based on predicates.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 2010Date of Patent: March 27, 2018Assignee: Excalibur IP, LLCInventors: Vishal Raithatha, Karthikeyan M., John Pederzolli

Patent number: 8161554Abstract: An intrusion detection system for a computer network includes a knowledge database that contains a baseline of normal host behavior, and a correlation engine that monitors network activity with reference to the knowledge database. The correlation engine accumulating information about anomalous events occurring on the network and then periodically correlating the anomalous events. The correlation engine generates a worm outbreak alarm when a certain number of hosts exhibit a role-reversal behavior. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract that will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure. It is submitted with the understanding that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or meaning of the claims. 37 CFR 1.72(b).Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 2005Date of Patent: April 17, 2012Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Karthikeyan M.
