Abstract: It is described biologically pure bacterial cultures of mutant strains of Pseudomonas fluorescens, which producee large amounts of alginate. The alginate may contain a certain determined content of mannuronate and guluronate residues, possible residues, possible presence and determined level of acetyl groups in the alginate, and a desired molecular weight of the alginate. Abstract: Methods are provided for determining susceptibility of a patient to vascular disease according to presence of chlamydia infected with bacteriophage ?Cpn1, and compositions for use in such methods. The compositions include bacteriophage ?Cpn1 proteins and nucleic acids, elementary bodies from chlamydia infected with ?Cpn1, and antibodies thereto.
