    Abstract: A steering system for an outboard motor capable of improving the operability and the responsibility to an emergency. In the steering system, a torque sensor is actuated depending upon rotation of a steering wheel to generate an output signal. The so-generated output signal is then fed to an electric motor to drive it, so that the electric motor generates torque for assisting steering of an outboard motor.
