Process for the preparation of said compound comprising heating amine (A) and pantolactone or substituted pantolactone (B) in a solvent selected from cyclohexane, benzene, toluene, xylene, dipheny!ether; anisole, dioxane, etc. at a temperature in the range of 110-150° C. for about 24 hrs followed by further raising the temperature of the mixture to a temperature in the range of 200-230° C. for period in the range of 15 to 25 min followed by cooling the crude reaction mixture to room temperature to obtain compound of general Formula I.
