  • Patent number: 4272072
Abstract: A waist mounted exercise device is disclosed which can be easily and conveniently used by an operator. The exercise device includes a waist encircling member which is strapped to the waist and which has a post protruding from the center of the waist. Suitably mounted for pivoting on the post is a bracket from which rods extend on either side of the operator. These rods are adjustably clamped in place in the bracket so as to position a ball on the distal end of each rod within reach of each outstretched hand. Exercise is performed by grasping a ball in each hand and moving the arms in a swimming motion. This motion also causes the torso to sway back and forth.

  • Patent number: 4149715
Abstract: An exercising method which employs the principle of isotonic exercise in conjunction with isometric impact exercise. The exercising method comprises the steps using at least one lever to which the operator applies a rotational force against an adjustable resilient force, such as a spring, selectively opposing the rotation of the lever; suddenly removing the spring from opposing engagement with the lever after a predetermined amount of lever rotation, thereby permitting the lever to be rapidly rotated by the previously applied force; and suddenly stopping the rapidly rotating lever. The method further comprises sequentially repeating the above steps.

  • Patent number: 4023796
Abstract: An exercising device which employ the principle of isotonic exercise in conjunction with isometric impact exercise. The exercising device comprises two spaced apart pivotably mounted levers to which the exerciser applies a rotational force; an adjustable resilient force, such as a spring, selectively opposing the rotation of the levers. The resisting force varies during the pivoting of the levers such that as the levers pass dead center the force applied by an exerciser reaches a maximum value and after passing dead center thereby permitting the levers to be rapidly rotated by the resisting force; and a lever stopping member for suddenly stopping the rapidly rotating lever.
