  • Patent number: 4334784
Abstract: A method of processing plastic material uses a device which operates in a batchwise fashion. The device includes a cylindrical container having a shaft disposed coaxially therein. The shaft is provided with mixing tools and can be driven at high speed. Material to be processed, and liquid if desired, is supplied to the container in pre-metered amounts, gelled by resultant frictional heat and granulated, if necessary, then expelled from the container. The material is supplied in a continuous, metered constant quantity stored temporarily and then fed into the container cyclically at predetermined intervals. The apparatus for carrying out the method includes at least one metering device which feeds an intermediate container and instrumentalities for cyclically emptying the intermediate container into the cylindrical container.

  • Patent number: 4188130
Abstract: A process and apparatus for continuously mixing wood chips with a binder finely divided in air, the wood chips falling through a mixing drum in the form of thin layers with the air moving approximately perpendicularly to the direction of falling in a pulsating fashion.

  • Patent number: 4183676
Abstract: An apparatus for continual gluing of wood chips includes a cylindrical mixture container, and a mixing shaft arranged within the container and substantially coaxially to a mixture ring of wood chips to be formed in the container. At least one glue supply pipe extends from the outside into the mixing chamber, ending with its outlet opening in the container. Each outlet opening lies in the surface of the inner wall of the mixing container. Glue is fed under substantially zero pressure to the outlet opening or openings. Wood chips in the outer periphery of the mixture ring serve to transport glue from the openings to the mixture ring.

  • Patent number: 4129261
Abstract: An agitating mill in whose cylindrical grinding container a mixing shaft is disposed, is to be partially filled with grinding media. The mixing shaft is made hollow and coolable. Substantially radially projecting discs are mounted on the mixing shaft, with mixing bars fastened to the discs. The discs can be made in the form of coolable hollow discs.

  • Patent number: 4117981
Abstract: A stirring mill for fine grinding and/or dispersal of flowable grinding stock in whose grinding container a mixing shaft provided with mixing members is rotatably drivably mounted. The grinding container is provided with a grinding-stock inlet and a ground-stock outlet. A separating device is provided in the vicinity of the ground stock outlet, the separating device being formed by annular disks mounted concentrically on a shaft. The disks are rotatable relative to one another and define radial spaces between one another. Between each two axially nondisplaceable annular disks, an axially freely movable annular disk is located. The sum of the widths of the two spaces delimited by an axially movable annular disk is smaller than the diameter of the smallest unit of grinding medium.

  • Patent number: 4059232
Abstract: A stirring or agitating mill has a grinding vessel partially filled with grinding bodies. The vessel is substantially surrounded by a cooling jacket. A rotationally drivable and internally coolable agitator is disposed in the grinding vessel. The walls of the grinding vessel and/or the agitator have heat-dissipating, gently curving projections therein extending helically or parallel to the direction of the longitudinal axis of the vessel. Means may be present within the agitator to direct the coolant against the inside of the projections.

  • Patent number: 4006887
Abstract: A device for continuous coating of fibers has a horizontally mounted cylindrical mixing container with an inlet for fibers at one end and an outlet for coated fibers at the other end. The container has a mixing shaft mounted coaxially therewithin, which shaft is driveable at a considerably supercritical speed. The shaft is at least partially hollow and is provided with a glue feed through its interior. In a glue feed zone of the container the shaft is provided with glue agitating elements projecting therefrom and dispensing glue to the ring of fibers formed in the vicinity of the wall of the container. The shaft also has ventilator ridges mounted thereon extending radially outwardly for most of the length of the shaft, which ventilator ridges support mixing tools which extend into the ring of fibers.
