  • Patent number: 4686057
Abstract: The pasty damping medium is used to damp mechanical and/or acoustic oscillations. The agent contains as a minimum compound a solid finely divided substance or a mixture of solid finely divided substances, as a liquid phase, a silicone oil, a polyglycol, a mineral oil and/or a saturated aliphatic or aromatic aliphatic carboxylic acid ester, an agent for increasing the interfacial surface activity or a surfactant, a finely divided magnesium and/or aluminium silicate and/or a silicon dioxide finely divided as a viscosity stabilizer and possibly a small quantity of an antioxidant. The invention concerns also a method for producing the pasty damping medium and the use of the pasty damping medium in different hydraulic damping devices or for industrial shock absorber or industrial vibration damper.

Date of Patent: August 11, 1987
    Assignee: Aros Hydraulik GmbH
Inventors: Kaspar Lochner, Helmut Schurmann, Erich Brand

  • Patent number: 4452437
Abstract: The invention relates to a hydraulically-operating shock and vibration absorber or damper, having a cylinder closed at one end, a piston slidable within the cylinder, the piston being connected with a hollow piston rod extending out of the open end of the cylinder. The interior of the piston rod and the cylinder define a chamber filled with an incompressible damping fluid. A space is defined in the piston rod separated from the chamber by a slidable separating piston. The space contains a compressible agent. The damping fluid is pressed out of one portion the chamber, through the control port, into another portion when the shock absorber is under load. The compressible damping agent is air or gas under normal pressure or else pressurized.

  • Patent number: 4295984
Abstract: The invention relates to a paste-like, viscous damping medium dispersion based on a liquid phase and graphite, where at least one agent for increasing the intrinsic viscosity and at least one wetting agent for wetting the graphite are added to the dispersion. The dispersion according to the invention is free-flowing over a very large temperature range, does not increase in hardness when under load but remains viscous, and is noise-insulating. The dispersion according to the invention does not swell elastomers.

  • Patent number: 4251381
Abstract: A damping agent for damping mechanical and/or acoustical vibrations. The agent includes a fluid phase of a polyglycol, silicone oil, mineral oil, and/or a saturated aliphatic or aromatic carboxylic acid ester having graphite dispersed therein. The graphite is dispersed by means of a wetting agent. Anti-oxidants and an agent to stabilize the structural viscosity of the damping agent may also be included.

  • Patent number: 4005858
Abstract: Damping member for absorbing mechanical oscillations and impacts applied in a given direction, comprising a chamber having supporting surfaces at opposite sides thereof, the chamber being formed with walls extending in the given direction and being at least partly elastic, and damping medium received in the chamber and being formed of a tough elastic, lastingly plastic mass.
