    Abstract: A lacrosse ball that meets generally accepted rules on the construction of lacrosse balls (e.g., size, weight, and bounce height), but provides a more impact-absorbing surface than conventional lacrosse balls. One embodiment provides a lacrosse ball including a shell made of a first material and a layer of second material disposed on the shell, wherein the second material has a specific gravity lower than that of the first material. Another embodiment provides a lacrosse ball including a core made of a first material and a layer of second material disposed on the core, wherein the second material has a specific gravity lower than that of the first material. Another embodiment provides a lacrosse ball including a core made of a first material and a layer of second material disposed on the core, wherein the second material has a specific gravity higher than that of the first material.
