  • Patent number: 9310354
Abstract: The present invention relates to the fields of agriculture, plant breeding or genetic engineering for plants with increased yield, crop forecasting and crop management. In particular, the methods herein describe novel methods of predicting a plant's yield through the measurement of specific metabolites either individually or in combination with one another in a specific plant reproductive tissue. The plant predictive methods described herein may be used to predict yield of plant populations as well as allow for more efficient crop management practices (e.g. amount and timing of chemical applications or amount of irrigation water applied to a field).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 7, 2012
Date of Patent: April 12, 2016
    Assignee: Syngenta Participations AG
Inventors: Kateri Duncan, Jonathan Cohn, Lining Guo, Nalini Desai, Matthew Mitchell, Jacob Wulff
  • Publication number: 20160024516
Abstract: Methods and compositions comprise ACC deaminase nucleic acids and their encoded proteins for altering ethylene production and stress response in plants. Recombinant expression cassettes, host cells, and transgenic plants comprise the constructs. The amino acid sequence of the deaminase may be altered to modify enzymatic function. The ACC deaminase may be from Diplodia maydis and the host plant may be maize.

  • Publication number: 20130019334
Abstract: A novel transgenic corn event designated MZDT09Y is disclosed. The invention relates to nucleic acids that are unique to event MZDT09Y and to methods of detecting the presence of event MZDT09Y based on DNA sequences of the recombinant constructs inserted into the corn genome that resulted in the MZDT09Y event and of genomic sequences flanking the insertion site. The invention further relates to corn plants comprising the transgenic genotype of event MZDT09Y and to methods for producing a corn plant by crossing a corn plant comprising the MZDT09Y genotype with itself or another corn variety. Seeds of corn plants comprising the MZDT09Y genotype are also objects of the invention.

  • Publication number: 20110023179
Abstract: Compositions and methods for targeting polypeptides to plastids are provided. Compositions comprise plastid transit peptides as well as nucleotide sequences encoding such transit peptides and variants thereof. Compositions further comprise DNA constructs comprising a nucleotide sequence encoding the plastid transit peptide operably linked to a nucleotide sequence encoding a polypeptide of interest. These DNA constructs find use in expression and targeting of the polypeptide of interest to a plastid. Compositions also comprise expression cassettes, vectors, transformed plants, transformed plant cells, and stably transformed plant seeds wherein a polypeptide of interest is targeted to a plastid by the plastid targeting peptide of the invention.
