  • Publication number: 20120206741
Abstract: A method for rendering a clear toner layer is disclosed for a received print job description that is provided in multiple channels, including a clear channel and a color channel. A program selection is executed for a multiple pass operation. Image processing is performed on the print job description to generate a ready-to-print file. A layer of an image is rendered in a first pass using a clear toner applying component and a pigmented toner applying component. The values of the color channel are modified, and the ready-to-print file is modified using the values. The modified ready-to-print file is saved in a ready-to-print format. A layer of the image is rendered in a select pass using only the clear toner applying component.

  • Publication number: 20120154830
Abstract: A method for forming a variable data job includes a fixed original image provided by original image data in a first multiple channel color plane and content provided by variable image data in a second multiple channel color plane. The original image data is converted to fixed image data in a clear channel color plane. Raster image processing is performed on the fixed image data to translate the fixed image data into a first ready-to-print file. The ready-to-print file is saved in a memory as a post-RIP file. The variable image data is subsequently provided in at least the second multiple channel color plane. Image processing is performed on the variable image data to obtain a second ready-to-print file. The post-RIP file is merged with the second ready-to-print file for forming the variable data job. The variable data job is printed to render output.

  • Patent number: 8164766
Abstract: A method is provided for enabling adaptive print job content processing as a function of the electronic format and content of files, received by a digital print production environment providing access to a display in the form of a user interface able to select job content processing options. The method includes receiving a print job in one or more electronic format files, with the print job including supplementary information for one or more electronic format files. Depending on the electronic format of the files, job programming options are structured, with options including parameter(s), parameter value(s), and parameter selectability. Programming options are presented on the user interface for review and possible modification by an operator. A determination is made as to whether any operator modifications have been indicated. If operator modifications have been indicated, the parameter value(s) affected are adjusted.

  • Publication number: 20080079976
Abstract: A method is provided for enabling adaptive print job content processing as a function of the electronic format and content of files, received by a digital print production environment providing access to a display in the form of a user interface able to select job content processing options. The method includes receiving a print job, which does not include supplementary information, in one or more electronic format files and analyzing the electronic format files. Depending on the electronic format of the analyzed files, job programming options are structured. Programming options are presented on the user interface for review by an operator. If the operator has indicated a modification to a parameter value(s), the processing parameters are adjusted. The electronic format files are then processed according to the adjusted processing parameters or according to the presented programming options if no modifications have been made to the parameter value(s).

  • Patent number: 7086792
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for compiling a set of images into a single document image file having a version key and a color plane associated therewith. The version key is employed in association with the images and color planes to cause a raster image processor to select, or ignore, color planes and thereby enable printing of a plurality of multi-versioned documents from a common image file set.

  • Patent number: 6803921
Abstract: A method for determining and assigning colorimetry and authorship device information to an image of unknown colorimetry includes iteratively displaying the image on a display device and selecting possible source device profiles for transforming the image. When a possible source device is indicated or selected, the source device is emulated on the display device and the image is displayed through the emulation. A user can then evaluate the indicated source device and if necessary indicate a new possible source device. When the most likely source device is selected, further image processing is enabled. The method can be carried out on a color image processor comprising a source device emulator and display device interface. The display device interface can use a display device profile for profile connection space to display device transformation.

  • Patent number: 6532081
Abstract: For blending two color transformation look-up tables, the weights used for combining the tables are designed such that transitions from one look-up table to another are smooth and do not create objectionable artifacts. Building the individual weights includes obtaining the position of a given input point from the input color space, both in the input device and an output device gamut. Weight calculation is obtained by (1) if the input color falls in the intersection of predefined percentages of both the input gamut and the output gamut, then a pictorial LUT is used and the weight is set to 1.0; (2) if the input color falls outside the input and/or output gamut, then a graphics LUT is used and the weight is set to 1.

  • Patent number: 6285463
Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus to minimize and prevent blooming problems in color image systems. Particular applicability is found where an image on image system is employed. The invention is inserted into the colorant driving signal path of the system. The invention places an averaging circuit in the path of one or more colorant driving signal streams. The averaging circuit produces an average value signal representative of a small area of its respective colorant. A modulator or other signal varying device responsive to the average value signal is placed in the path of yet another but separate colorant driving signal stream. In this manner the separate colorant driving signal is modulated or varied in response to the average neighboring value of a different color thus minimizing and preventing image blooming.

  • Patent number: 5740334
Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for reducing two-color moire often found during the rendering of full color images using halftoning techniques. The invention relies upon the application of a non-periodic halftone operation to the least perceptible color separation (e.g., yellow) so as to prevent the formation of periodic structures due to the interaction of the yellow colorant with one of the other colorants (e.g., cyan or magenta).
