Publication number: 20120209367Abstract: A catheter assembly includes a main catheter branch having a catheter shaft and a distal end portion. A main balloon and a side balloon are positioned at the distal end portion of the catheter shaft. The main balloon includes a distal waist portion at a distal end thereof and a proximal waist portion at a proximal end thereof. The side balloon includes an inflatable portion, a proximal waist portion, and a distal waist portion, wherein the proximal and distal waist portions define a side inflation lumen. The proximal waist portion of the side balloon and the proximal waist portion of the main balloon are secured to the distal end portion of the catheter shaft at a single bond or connection point to create a proximal balloon joint, wherein the main inflation lumen is in fluid communication with the main balloon and the side inflation lumen.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 23, 2012Publication date: August 16, 2012Applicant: BOSTON SCIENTIFIC SCIMED, INC.Inventors: Katherine Prindle, Karen Turner, Mary Bronson, Matt Heidner

Publication number: 20050119616Abstract: A catheter comprises a first component and a second component. The first component has a first outer diameter and the second component has a second outer diameter. At least a portion of the first component being bonded to at least a portion of the second component. When the at least a portion of the first component is bonded to the at least a portion of the second component the first outer diameter is substantially equal to the second outer diameter. A heat shrink material being utilized to bond the at least a portion of the first component to the at least a portion of the second component.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2004Publication date: June 2, 2005Applicant: SCIMED LIFE SYSTEMS, INC.Inventors: Richard Goodin, Katherine Prindle

Patent number: 6361529Abstract: A dilation catheter having a first shaft section, a second shaft section attached to the first shaft section, and an inflatable balloon attached to the second shaft section. A fluid pathway is defined through the catheter for inflation of the balloon. A guide wire lumen is provided in the second shaft section that can extend between the distal end of the balloon and a point distal of the first shaft section. A stiffening member is provided within the second shaft section of the dilation catheter to provide additional stiffness to the second shaft section. In a preferred embodiment, the stiffening member is attached at the distal end of the first shaft section to occlude the hollow passage of the first shaft section. In this embodiment, the first shaft section farther includes a fluid port that is proximal of the stiffening member and that extends between the hollow passage of the first shaft section and the exterior of the first shaft section.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 2000Date of Patent: March 26, 2002Assignee: Schneider (USA) Inc.Inventors: Rich L. Goodin, Suranjan Roychowdhury, Katherine Prindle
