  • Patent number: 10888331
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to the field of embolic coils. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to systems and methods for actively releasing an embolic coil from a delivery device into a body lumen of a patient. Delivery systems of the present disclosure may allow an embolic coil to be advanced external to the distal end of a delivery catheter without being automatically released, thereby allowing the embolic coil to be repositioned prior to deployment.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 9, 2016
Date of Patent: January 12, 2021
    Assignee: Boston Scientific Scimed, Inc.
Inventors: Gary Pederson, Katherine Routh, Ken Zhang, Jeffry Johnson, Devon Arnholt, Joel Eggert, James Rohl, Douglas Pagoria, John-Allen O'Brien, Frank Ryan, Conor O'Sullivan
  • Patent number: 10869673
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to embolic coils that eliminate kick-back into a parent vessel by providing a proximal end that retracts following deployment within the vasculature. Also disclosed are methods of making such coils, delivery systems that comprise such coils, and methods of delivering such coils to a patient.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 4, 2016
Date of Patent: December 22, 2020
    Assignee: Boston Scientific Scimed, Inc.
Inventors: Ken Zhang, Gary Pederson, Katherine Routh, Jeffry Johnson
  • Patent number: 10575855
Abstract: Medical devices and methods for forming the medical devices are disclosed in the present application. In one illustrative example an occlusion balloon comprises an outer balloon member, and an inner balloon member having an inner wall and an outer wall and extending through at least a portion of the outer balloon member. In at least some examples, when forces acting on the inner wall of the inner balloon member equal forces acting on the outer wall of the inner balloon member, the inner balloon member defines a lumen.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 30, 2016
Date of Patent: March 3, 2020
    Assignee: Boston Scientific Scimed, Inc.
Inventors: Cass A. Hanson, Joseph M. Connolly, Katherine Routh, Jaydeep Y. Kokate, Gary J. Pederson, Derek C. Sutermeister, Michele C. Tessmer, Jeffrey S. Lindquist, Robert N. Squire, Steven L. Kangas, David Raab, Joel Munsinger, Derek K. Larson, Martin R. Willard
