Publication number: 20170360181Abstract: A facial skin indentation preventer has a central base core surrounded by an entrapment flap and a securing flap. The core and flaps have at least a single layer of soft moleskin, felt, or similar material forming an outer skin-contact layer that is non-adhesive. A rigid component is attached to the outer skin-contact layer in a center of the preventer, thereby defining a central base core. The central base core can have a cannula or similar item placed thereon. The flaps are then folded inwards, over the rigid component, creating a cannula pocket above the rigid component and entrapping and holding the cannula therein. An entrapment hinge and securing hinge ensure the folds remain rounded and soft. A flap attachment is used to lock the securing flap to the entrapment flap and ensure the cannula stays within the cannula pocket.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 29, 2017Publication date: December 21, 2017Inventors: Kathleen Burns, Frances Burns

Patent number: 9744327Abstract: A facial skin indentation preventer has a central base core surrounded by an entrapment flap and a securing flap. The core and flaps have two layers: a soft moleskin or similar skin-contact layer and a second more rigid layer. A rigid cushion is attached to the central base core and a cannula or similar item can be placed thereon. The flaps are then folded inwards, over the rigid cushion, creating a cannula pocket above the rigid cushion and entrapping and holding the cannula therein. An entrapment hinge and securing hinge ensure the folds remain rounded and soft. A flap attachment is used to lock the securing flap in place and ensure the cannula stays within the cannula pocket.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 2016Date of Patent: August 29, 2017Inventors: Kathleen Burns, Frances Burns

Patent number: 8879834Abstract: A method and apparatus for reduced complexity video and image processing with special chroma handling are disclosed. Frame-type decisions are made on a video stream made up of a sequence of frames. A first subset of the frames are selected to be monochrome and generated without chroma data. A second subset of the frames are selected to be in color and generated with chroma components. In one embodiment, the first subset of frames includes odd frames and the second subset of frames includes even frames in the video stream. Under higher video frame rates, the lack of color in every other frame is not visible to the end viewer. Accordingly, subsequent processing of the output video stream permits luma-only processing of many frames in the video stream, extensively reducing the amount of computation.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 2012Date of Patent: November 4, 2014Assignee: Broadcom CorporationInventors: Kathleen Burns, Larry Pearlstein

Patent number: 8773587Abstract: At least a method and a system are described for providing frame rate upconversion by way of using “short side” or bidirectional interpolation in generating interpolated frames. In a representative embodiment, the method may comprise receiving a first frame of video corresponding to a first frame time and a second frame of the video corresponding to a second frame time, computing a first absolute difference between the first frame time and an interpolated frame time wherein the interpolated frame time temporally is located between the first frame time and the second frame time. The method further comprises using a first motion vector field and the first frame to compute a third frame at the interpolated frame time. The method further comprises outputting the third frame as the interpolated frame at the interpolated frame time if the first absolute difference is less than or equal to a first threshold value.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 2013Date of Patent: July 8, 2014Assignee: Broadcom CorporationInventors: Kathleen Burns, Kenneth Edward Vavreck, Gerald Michael Roletter, Larry Alan Pearlstein

Publication number: 20130297354Abstract: A memory device stores machine-readable instructions executable by a processor to cause the processor to graphically depict on a display device a first category of risk analysis data related to a plurality of insurance claims. The processor also causes the display to graphically depict a relationship between a first analysis result and a first benchmark value corresponding to the first analysis result, and graphically depict one or more user controls for selecting a second category of risk analysis data.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 9, 2013Publication date: November 7, 2013Inventors: LARRY J. Publication number: 20130142903Abstract: Rice protein concentrates prepared at low temperature exhibit improved functionality and beneficial physiological benefits, including lowered cholesterol and enhanced lactic acid dehydrogenase activity, without an increase in blood urea nitrogen. The rice protein concentration could be made into a wet dough with comparatively less water than a soy protein concentrate. Use of the rice protein concentrate thus improved processing steps in the formulation of a food article containing the concentrate. The food product advantageously shows an extending shelf life and improved palatable texture.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 19, 2011Publication date: June 6, 2013Applicant: DANISCO US INCInventors: Gang Duan, Kathleen Burns Jacobsen, Jayarama K.
