    Abstract: A method for sorting permutations using reversals for matching genomic evolution or other permutations. The sorting method includes steps to set up a data structure for storing the permutations, assigning symbols to match the permutation elements, and isolate the contiguous sections within the data structure. The corresponding sections are then reversed and the symbols changed in order to sort the permutations recursively until all symbols are contiguous.
