    Abstract: A fiber feedthrough assembly having a rigidizing member in the form of a quartz tube surrounding an axial length of a glass fiber defined between a shoulder formed by the jacket of the fiber and the axially inner end of a hermetic seal. The coefficients of thermal expansion of the tube and the fiber are substantially equal.
