    Abstract: A process for the production and for the winding of one polyester yarn, preferably multi-filament yarn, which comprises at least about 85 weight %, in relation to the total weight of the polyester yarn, of polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT) wherein said process is characterized in that filaments of said polyester yarn is heat-treated, before it is wound on a bobbin, at a temperature in the range of about 70° C. to about 180° C. The method of accomplishing this is by heating the godets that are used in the spinning part of the process, preferably the last pair of godets, to relax the yarns so that the yarn package will not shrink significantly during storage and/or transportation. It is thus possible to obtain at least one PTT yarn package with long-term stability during storage and which is insensitive against elevated temperatures during storage and transport.

    Abstract: An improved process for the polymerization of polytrimethylene terephthalate by esterification of terephthalic acid or dimethylterephthalate with 1,3-propanediol (PDO), precondensation of the esterification product to produce a precondensation product, and polycondensation of the precondensation product to produce polytrimethylene terephthalate wherein excess PDO is removed from the esterification and/or polycondensation stages and PDO vapor is separated from the high boiling fraction (solid byproduct). The improvement comprises: (a) heating the solid byproduct in the presence of about 5 ppm to about 5000 ppm, based on metal, of a metal catalyst selected from the group consisting of one or more 3rd, 4th, or 5th row metal compounds from Groups 3-12 and Groups 14-15 of the Periodic Table (IUPAC 1989) at a temperature of from about 100° C. to about 240° C.

    Abstract: The invention herein is a non-aqueous solvent free process for producing UV curable adhesive and sealant compositions comprising a tackifying resin and a monohydroxylated epoxidized polydiene polymer which is comprised of at least two polymerizable ethnically unsaturated hydrocarbon monomers wherein at least one is a diene monomer which yields unsaturation suitable for epoxidation and wherein the polymer contains from 0.1 to 7.0 milliequivalents of epoxy per gram of polymer. The process involves mixing the components with an insoluble photoinitiator under conditions of high shear and/or cavitation. The invention also relates to a film of 5 mils to one inch thick which is formed from the composition made according to the process above.
