A virtual data source manager (VDSM) that is executing on a computer system may receive a VDS creation request to create a particular VDS. The VDS creation request may include information that is usable to identify a data origin of the particular VDS and an ingestion routine. The VDSM may use the ingestion routine to create the particular VDS that includes a bitmap index that is representative of data stored at the origin. In response to a data request corresponding to the origin, the particular VDS may be used to initiate a query to the particular VDS for data without accessing the origin. The VDSM may further maintain various software plugins that are executable to perform corresponding functions in relation to the VDSM and the VDSs managed by the VDSM.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for forwarding telephone calls, facsimile transmissions and electronic messages to a single forwarding telephone number. The telephone calls, fax transmissions and electronic messages are first forwarded to a central forwarding repository by the forwarding party where the fax transmissions, and messages are converted to audio formats. Forwarded telephone calls and audio formatted versions of the fax transmissions and electronic messages are then forwarded directly to a designated forwarding number. If the forwarding party answers at the forwarding number, she will receive forwarded calls, and the audio formatted versions of fax transmissions and electronic messages will be played to her over her telephone. If the forwarding party does not answer the forwarded call, she subsequently may retrieve saved telephone calls, saved telephone messages and saved audio versions of fax transmissions and electronic messages from the central forwarding repository.

Abstract: The present invention comprises a computerized system and method for searching heterogeneous electronic directories. An embodiment of the system includes a database, containing data necessary to perform a search, a user interface, and a component for performing the searches. Embodiments of the system provide a user with the ability to search directories in multiple locations and in multiple formats, both standard and non-standard, for contacts and to display the results of the search in one unified list. A system administrator or a user determines which directories the system searches and in what order the system performs the search.
