  • Publication number: 20230250251
Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for the recycling of polymer materials that utilize recoverable solvents to efficiently produce high quality valuable polymer while removing contaminants such as metals, dyes or fibers present in the product to be recycled. The described methods may reduce temperature requirements, both reducing the energy requirements as well as providing higher quality recycled feedstocks by, for example, reducing discoloration due to high temperature processing.

  • Publication number: 20230130031
Abstract: This invention relates to the field of polymers. More specifically, the invention comprises thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers comprising polyesters comprising nitro-substituted dicarboxylic acids that are products obtained by decomposition of polyethylene. The thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers described herein exhibit higher glass transition temperatures and higher Shore A hardness compared to thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers synthesized from similar polyester diols made from virgin monomers that do not contain nitro substitution.
    Type: Application
    Filed: March 12, 2021
    Publication date: April 27, 2023
Inventors: Katrina Marie KNAUER, Jennifer LE ROY, Russell Clayton PRATT, David Samuel PILSK, Cody James HIGGINSON
  • Patent number: 11530427
Abstract: Disclosed herein include methods of reducing the viscosity of a starch slurry during starch processing by the addition of one or more surfactants and one or more amylases. In some embodiments, the unexpected reduction in slurry viscosity results in a surprising increase in corn oil recovery, reduction in residual starch, and increased fermentation rate.
