  • Patent number: 5485244
Abstract: To attach or detach a process cartridge to or from a support member of an LED printer, an upper housing is angularly displaced and opened around a supporting position relative to a lower housing. As the upper housing is gradually opening relatively to the lower housing, the support member is angularly displaced around a connection position with the lower housing to be separated from the upper housing. Then, a used process cartridge can be detached from the support member and another new process cartridge can be attached thereto, thereby allowing such maintenance operation to be easily performed.

  • Patent number: 5140376
Abstract: The transfer and conveying apparatus of the invention transfers a toner image from a photoreceptor onto a recording paper by performing corona discharge at a location opposite to the photoreceptor and adjacent to a portion of a conveying belt which contacts the one of a pair of rollers about which the conveying belt is trained that is closest to the photoreceptor, and conveys the recording paper after transfer of the image by attracting the paper to the belt. This belt is brought into contact with a conductive brush which has AC voltage or DC voltage applied thereto with polarity opposite that applied for transfer of the image to thereby prevent the toner from depositing on the belt. Furthermore, the lower stretched portion of the belt may be wound about the roller through predetermined angular range with the recording paper disposed between the belt and the photoreceptor.

  • Patent number: 4533618
Abstract: A method for transferring a toner image on the surface of an image-bearing member obtained as a result of development with a conductive or semi-conductive toner material to the surface of a receptor member, which comprises bringing the surface of the receptor member into contact with the toner image on the surface of the image-bearing member and simultaneously applying a corona discharge to the back surface of the receptor member. The angle formed between the lines of electric force of the corona discharge and a line perpendicular to the receptor member does not exceed about 30 degrees.

  • Patent number: 4126100
Abstract: An apparatus for developing an electrostatic latent image formed on the surface of an electrostatic latent image-bearing material by applying a powdery developer, wherein means are provided for bringing the surface of a developer-retaining member retaining a layer of the powdery developer thereon into rolling contact with the surface of the image-bearing material in such a relation that a reservoir zone of the developer is formed at least upstream of the zone of rolling contact between the two surfaces, and means are provided for physically disturbing the developer in the reservoir zone to cause the developer to make an irregular motion.

  • Patent number: 4096543
Abstract: A corona discharge device including a corona discharge electrode, an opposing electrode disposed opposite to the corona discharge electrode, a high voltage alternate current source electrically connected between the two electrodes, and a grid provided in a corona discharge current flow path between the two electrodes. The grid is grounded through a nonlinear bias element.
