  • Patent number: 5748779
Abstract: In a figure input method and apparatus, coordinate points are input, a locus made by a plurality of input coordinate points is stored, and the stored locus is displayed. Thereafter, the kind of figure corresponding to the input locus is assigned, and a correct figure corresponding to the locus is drawn based on the assigned kind of figure and stored locus information.

  • Patent number: 5734750
Abstract: A character recognition apparatus and method for recognizing an unknown character by comparing strokes of the input character with stroke information stored in a dictionary. Each stroke of the input character is classified into one of plural categories according to stroke direction. The classified input strokes are rearranged into groups of strokes having the same classification. The degree of analogy between rearranged input strokes and stroke information stored in the dictionary for each group of similarly classified stroke group is calculated based on stroke length, and a maximum analogous element for each input stroke according to the calculated degree of analogy is detected. The detected maximum analogous elements are summed together, and the character whose sum is maximum is output as the identity of the unknown input character.

  • Patent number: 5680527
Abstract: An information processing system has a memory to store information, a display device such as an LCD to display the information, as an image, stored in the memory, and a pattern input device such as a transparent tablet having a position coordinates system corresponding to the display screen of the display device, for inputting a figure pattern to designate the image displayed on the display screen. A recognizing circuit recognizes a shape of the figure pattern input from position coordinates of the figure pattern input by the pattern input means, and a CPU fetches the image, as information, displayed in an area on the display screen of the display device corresponding to the area enclosed in the figure pattern whose shape is recognized by the recognizing circuit, and for performing information processes. An an image data memory stores the information fetched by the CPU. With this system, the information on the display screen designated by the pointing device can be stored into an arbitrary memory.

  • Patent number: 5605127
Abstract: Objects of a cylinder cover for diesel engine is to prevent the interference of mists between a plurality of fuel valves, thereby enhancing the spray efficiency, and to prevent troubles of burning of nozzle caused by the collision of mist sprayed from the adjacent fuel valve and increase in thermal stress caused by local overheat of combustion chamber surface due to the collision of mist. To achieve these objects, fuel valves are mounted in a side wall of the cylinder cover so that the centerline thereof is substantially at right angles to the cylinder centerline. Further, the injection angle of the fuel valve is set so as to be an acute angle not larger than 90.degree. to prevent local collision of mist with the combustion chamber wall surfaces, and the volume of the volume portion at the tip of the fuel valve is decreased to the minimum.

  • Patent number: 5579408
Abstract: Character recognition method and apparatus according to the present invention comprises the partial pattern dictionary which classifies and registers partial patterns of characters to be recognized in accordance with direction data of strokes and the partial pattern composition dictionary which classifies and registers dictionary characters in accordance with the partial patterns. When a character image to be recognized is inputted, each stroke is converted into direction data. The partial pattern dictionary is searched by using the attained direction data and divides the character image to be recognized into a single or plurality of partial patterns. The partial pattern composition dictionary is searched by using the partial patterns attained in the above-described way. A dictionary character is thus attained as the result of recognition.

  • Patent number: 5386575
Abstract: An electronic apparatus and method includes a memory for storing data to be sent to an input and/or output device, a transmitter for transmitting data stored in the memory, a power source for supplying power to the input and/or output device, a device for outputting predetermined test data to the input and/or output device, a detector for detecting the value of the voltage supplied by the power source during operation of the input and/or output device on the basis of the predetermined test data, and a determining device for determining whether the voltage detected by the detector is higher than a predetermined voltage. The data stored in the memory is sent to the input and/or output device when the voltage detected by the detector is determined to be higher than the predetermined voltage.
