  • Patent number: 6256868
Abstract: An assembly process apparatus includes an assembly robot for assembling parts to a workpiece which is a main body, a part supply apparatus for supplying parts to the workpiece, a work pallet for supplying workpieces to an assembly station of the assembly robot, and a tool pallet for supplying assembly process modules interchangeable with respect to the assembly robot. The part supply apparatus is made up of a plurality of part supply modules interchangeable with respect to the assembly robot. With the assembly process apparatus as one unit, it is constructed to assemble parts one unit only or with a plurality of units combined. Accordingly, an assembly process apparatus achieves excellent productivity with which it is possible to expand or cut line equipments easily according to production volume, and it is possible to achieve utilization of surplus assembly robots.

  • Patent number: 5467517
Abstract: Upper and lower work-pieces are fitted with each other to obtain a product. The work-pieces are provided with separate pairs of lands 11, 12, 13 and 14 to be fitted with each other. A land of the least rigidity is initially selected, and a fitting operation is carried out for the first land at a portion of an assembling allowance. Then, a self-guided fitting of the remaining portion of the first land is carried out. Then, a provisional fitting condition is created by disengaging the first land except at the least rigid portion. Then, the correction of the deviation in the second land is done by obtaining a relative displacement between the upper and lower work-pieces while the engagement of the first land is maintained. Then, the fitting of the second land is carried out.

  • Patent number: 5403057
Abstract: An apparatus for holding an object includes a plurality of holding pins and restricting means for restricting displacement thereof. The holding pins are retained on a guide member in a manner movable in the direction projecting therefrom and are displaced to a holding position where the geometry formed by their respective terminal ends upon contact with an object to be held conforms to the contour of said object to be held. The restricting means contacts the outer side surface of the holding pins so as to restrict their movement in the state where the holding pins are displaced to the holding position.
