    Abstract: The present invention unitarily manages the configuration change of a storage system so as to know the latest configuration, and evaluates the reliability in advance when the configuration is changed so that the generation of a failure is suppressed. When the host 1 is connected to the switch 2, the attribute information of HBA 1A and the attribute information of the switch 2 are stored in the connection information storage unit 2C by FDMI (Fabric Device Management Interface) (S1, S2). Each attribute information is associated with each other and is managed as combination information. The storage device 3 acquires the combination information from the switch 2 (S3, S4), and requests the management device 4 to judge the reliability of this combination (S5). The management device 4 judges the combination of the HBA and the switch (S6), and notifies this judgment result to the storage device 3 (S7).

A first channel control unit monitors the information processing device by communicating with the information processing device. When a problem is detected in the information processing device, the channel control unit restricts processing to be carried out in accordance with the data input/output request by a second channel control unit to which the data input/output transmitted from the information processing device is delivered.

    Abstract: The present invention allows a reserved state that prevails for an LDEV as a result of a host undergoing a system shutdown or the like to be confirmed and cancelled easily. The server 1 reserves the LDEV 4 and uses same exclusively. When the server 1 undergoes a system shutdown due to a fault or similar (S1), the LDEV 4 then remains reserved (S2). The server 2 is therefore unable to access the LDEV 4. The system administrator reads exclusive control information 6 in the memory 5 via the management terminal 7, and is thus able to display the reserved states of respective LDEVs on a terminal screen and confirm these states. The user then issues an instruction to cancel a reserved state from the management terminal 7 (S3). The disk array device 3 receives the cancellation instruction, and then cancels the reserved state by partially rewriting the exclusive control information 6.

At least one of the VDEVs is constructed by mapping the memory resources arranged in external storage controllers. The functions of a stripe, RAID, etc. can be added in the mapping.
