  • Patent number: 9809461
Abstract: Titanium dioxide and an electro-conductive titanium oxide which each includes particles having a large major-axis length in a large proportion and comprises columnar particles having a satisfactory particle size distribution. A titanium compound, an alkali metal compound, and an oxyphosphorus compound are heated/fired in the presence of titanium dioxide nucleus crystals having an aspect ratio of 2 or higher to grow the titanium dioxide nucleus crystals. Subsequently, a titanium compound, an alkali metal compound, and an oxyphosphorus compound are further added and heated/fired in the presence of the grown titanium dioxide nucleus crystals. Thus, titanium dioxide is produced which comprises columnar particles having a weight-average major-axis length of 7.0-15.0 ?m and in which particles having a major-axis length of 10 ?m or longer account for 15 wt. % or more of all the particles. A solution of a tin compound and a solution of compounds of antimony, phosphorus, etc.

  • Patent number: 7785501
Abstract: A black resin composition for a display device, which can achieve a high optical density even when its light-blocking agent content is relatively low and can achieve a high optical density even when it is formed into a thin film, and a member for display device which can reduce unevenness of display caused by a level difference in a pixel part resulting from the film thickness of the black resin composition. The black resin composition for a display device has a black titanium oxynitride represented by composition formula: TiNxOy-nSiO2 (wherein x and y each are a real number of larger than 0 but less than 2, and n is a real number within the range of 0 less than or equal to n less than or equal to 0.05), containing a nitrogen atom represented by N in an amount of 17 wt % or more but less than 23 wt %, and having a specific surface area of 5 to 30 m2/g and a crystalline size as measured with an X-ray diffractometer of 17 to 25 nm, and a curable binder system.

Abstract: Disclosed is a titanium oxynitride with excellent hiding properties (light-blocking properties) which is also excellent in degree of blackness and oxidation stability. Specifically disclosed is a titanium oxynitride having a chemical composition expresses as TiNxOy.nSiO2 (wherein Ti represents titanium atoms; N represents nitrogen atoms; O represents oxygen atoms; Si represents silicon atoms; x represents the ratio of nitrogen atoms relative to titanium atoms, y represents the ratio of oxygen atoms relative to titanium atoms, and x and y are respectively a real number of more than 0 but less than 2; and n represents the molar ratio of SiO2 relative to TiNxOy which is a real number within a range of 0?n?0.05). This titanium oxynitride contains nitrogen atoms represented by N in an amount of not less than 17% by weight but less than 23% by weight, while having a specific surface area of 5-30 m2/g and a crystallite size determined by using an X-ray diffractometer of 17-25 nm.
