  • Patent number: 7024895
Abstract: An electrical steering lock device and a related method are disclosed wherein a plate cam 17 has a contoured profile determined such that a lock shaft 15 moves inside a lock groove 13 at a travel speed (first speed) lower than a travel speed (second speed) at which the lock shaft 15 moves outside the lock groove 13, enabling the lock shaft 15 to disengage from the lock groove 13 with increased torque. This results in a capability of reliably disengaging the lock shaft 15 from the lock groove 13.

  • Patent number: 5570599
Abstract: A steering lock device comprises a key cylinder 14 rotatably provided in a sleeve 13 which is arranged within the a frame 11; a first rotor 16 arranged, being capable of rotating, being capable of moving in the axial direction with respect to the sleeve 13, and connected with a cam for the key cylinder 14; a second rotor 18 connected with a locking rod 32 and an ignition switch 28 in operation; and a connector 17 arranged between the first rotor 16 and the second rotor 18. When the key cylinder 14 is rotated relative to the sleeve 13, the key cylinder 14 is connected with the second rotor 18, and thereby the locking rod 32 is moved to the unlocked position from the locked position. When a foreign key is inserted into the key cylinder 14, the key cylinder 14 is rotated together with the sleeve 13 as one unit, thereby the locking rod 32 cannot be moved to the unlocked position.

  • Patent number: 5265453
Abstract: A cylinder lock is disclosed having significant resistance to damage or tampering. The cylinder lock comprises an axial cam provided on the key cylinder; a rotator which may be engaged with the sleeve and be in contact with the axial cam of the key cylinder; a stopper positioned adjacent to the rotator and having a pair of lugs engageable with a recess of the casing; and an axial spring positioned between the stopper and a connector for resiliently urging the stopper toward the rotator. The rotator and stopper are axially moved by the axial cam of the key cylinder to release engagement of the rotator with the sleeve and also to release engagement of the stopper with the casing when the key cylinder is rotated independently of the sleeve by a correct key, thereby the rotator comes into engagement with the connector. By further rotating the key cylinder, the rotator, stopper and connector are rotated as a unit to a locked or unlocked position.

  • Patent number: 4756174
Abstract: In a steering shaft locking and unlocking arrangement including a key-operated cylinder lock unit, the rotor of which is mechanically coupled with a cam for control of a spring-biased locking and unlocking bolt, a checker is fixedly mounted on the rotor. A combined hook-and-lever unit is provided for cooperation with the checker, so as to prevent unintentional steering shaft locking while the vehicle is running. For this purpose, the combined unit is mechanically coupled with a vehicle speed control lever through cable means, so as to prevent the cylinder lock rotor from turning to the locking position.
