  • Patent number: 5947086
Abstract: It is an object to improve the opening control resolving power in the case where the opening/closing of a throttle valve is controlled by a motor driven actuator. An additional control signal for finely vibrating the throttle valve is given to the actuator in a specific period until the opening of the throttle valve approaches its target value. Consequently, the throttle valve vibrates finely only as occasion demands. Accordingly, in spite of the fact that the opening of the throttle valve can be controlled with finer control resolving power than ordinary control resolving power, good response can be obtained as a whole.

  • Patent number: 5818178
Abstract: In a valve control apparatus for an automobile, an H-bridge type chopper main circuit 4 is operated by a control signal PWM from a microcomputer 1 to thereby drive a motor 9 for controlling a throttle valve 10. The power element current from the chopper main circuit 4 is detected by a shunt resistor 5 in the form of a voltage, and the detected voltage is amplified by an amplifier 6 and then taken into the microcomputer 1 through a sample hold circuit 12 and an A/D converter. The sample hold circuit 12 is operated in synchronism with the control signal PWM from the microcomputer 1. Further, the A/D converter is also operated in synchronism with the control signal PWM from the microcomputer 1. The motor 9 is controlled by a throttle valve opening angle command and a throttle valve opening angle signal, and further the motor 9 is controlled by a detected motor current.

  • Patent number: 5231344
Abstract: A control device for an electric generator for use with a vehicle engine includes an armature winding (stator) and a field winding (rotor) driven by the vehicle engine. A chopper is provided for controlling the field current of the field winding and a pulse width modulator is provided for controlling the duty cycle of the chopper in response to the operating conditions of the engine. A voltage feedback loop is provided from a normally provided battery which loop incorporates a detector for detecting the actual battery voltage and a comparator for comparing the battery voltage with a predetermined set voltage so that the difference in voltage is rendered to zero. The invention additionally provides a current feedback loop for controlling a deviation between a current command value determining the duty of the chopper and an actual current flowing through the field winding so as to be substantially zero.

  • Patent number: 4869334
Abstract: The steering power assist control comprises a main assist control and an auxiliary assist control. When an abnormality occurrence signal from the main assist control is inputted to an abnormality state detection and changing decision circuit 134, the selector circuit changes the PWM signal from the main assist control side to the auxiliary assist control side and outputs the PWM signal to a motor drive circuit. When the main assist control fails, the auxiliary assist control immediately takes over the main assist control to provide, if the operation condition permits, a continued steering power assist control. This prevents an abnormal steering state of the vehicle that would otherwise result when the steering power assist is suddenly lost.
